how to copy sd card

Postby ffcurtis86 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:07 am

I have a Garmin Oregon 550 and for my birthday my girlfriend bought me (hunting GPS maps) on SD CARD for it...does anyone know how I can copy the SD card to a larger memory SD card so that i can run a couple different mapping programs from the GPS rather then having to switch out cards every-time i need a different one ? i already tried copying and pasting from the original to another SD card and put the copied SD card into my GPS and when i turn it on it says unable to open file.... i double checked the SD card and all the files are saved on the newly copied card....any suggestions ..... ?

Sometimes programmes and maps are locked to the SD card they were supplied on, SD = SECURE Digital.

Sorry, but in this case Fatboyfun is wrong.

You have to copy the gmapsupp.img file and unlock it like every other locked Garmin map - with Image Unlocker. Then you can use this map on every Garmin device or SD card.

By the way - it would be nice if you upload this map to share it with us!

Hunting GPS Maps ????

Never heard of such a thing... especially for Garmins.

Do you mean perhaps, TOPO maps ?

Please give us more details.

And as said earlier..... it would be nice to share.

Is it for the State of Montana only, or are other States available ?

As far as uploading to share, hopefully, an admin should contact you with instructions.

As far as Road Maps. You can find nearly anything you need.

Here is a link to the City Navigator Maps North American V2012.30 which is the latest version:

As mentioned, they are located right here on this board.
