Copy your image file to device [x]:\Garmin folder, if it unlocked you not need nothing else, be sure you not replace your old map if needed
you can rename GMAPPROM.IMG to GMAPSUPP.IMG if needed...

Well I renamed as told above and copied to SDCard\Garmin but no map is recognized !
I made a gmapsupp.unl but no success ...
It's City Navigator Europe NT 2012.10 GMAPPROM.IMG

What to do more ?

My nuvi 855 recognizes maps with the names gmapprom and gmapsupp. You may put two maps on the Garmin folder of your nuvi, naming one as gmapprom and the other as gmapsupp. The two would be read by your nuvi. You may put another map on the SD card, naming it as gmapsupp. You nuvi would then recognize three (3) maps when you view Map Info. I have two (2) Philippine maps, and a City Navigator Southeast Asia NT v6.5 (which includes the Philippines), and my nuvi reads all three.

I tried putting two maps on my SD card, naming one as gmapsupp and the other as gmapsupp(1), but my nuvi recognized only the gmapsupp. I have yet to try having two (2) maps on my SD card, naming one as gmapprom and the other gmapsupp.

If I may suggest using the filenames gmapprom or gmapsupp.

IF You use SD-Card you can only use map filename [SDCard]:\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.IMG

You are not tell as what is your device... maybe you need to use \MAP folder & any name for newest devices ( preinstalled map in hidden .System folder)
