It's a simple copy... butr you need the correct file and place it in the correct folder.

1. Get the correct .JCV for your device (Nuvi 4x, 5x works) and the map you are using (they are a matched set)
2. Find where the old .JVC is located and either replace it (if you are updating to a newer map) OR add it if you are adding a .JCV for a second map.

Your maps and .JCV files in that device are probably in the hidden folder ".system" and you may need to adjust your windows explorer settings to view the contents of this folder. Maybe even located in \.system\.JCV\*.Dxxxxxx.JCV

Someone may be able to tell you which JCV toy need if to tell us which map (and version) you are trying to set up.
