Postby peepsnet » Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:28 pm

Where am I going wrong.

I downloaded the locked Bluechart US v11 .img but all the post says is to unlock with map ID 411

Where do I put the .img and how do i install it in mapsource.

I am using mapsettoolkit but I get an error that the parameters are incorrect in the cgpsmapper dos box

You not put IMG file in mapsource it is ready to use image file just copy it your device garmin folder with same named UNL file
rename map eg. GMAPSUPP.IMG and generate key with Jetmouse keygen and put this serial key inside GMAPSUPP.UNL

OR

IF you want mapsource version try to find original mapsource

nice, then post it ;)

generally for all of you with this question if .IMG file is titled "UNLOCKED" , all what you have to do is to copy .IMG file to your GARMIN folder on your device - internal memory (flash memory) or to SD CARD, sometimes you need to rename .IMG file to GMAPPROM.IMG or GMAPSUPP , or if you have more than 1 .img file, than rename another img file to GMAPSUP2.IMG .

You don't need to generate unlock key for UNLOCKED img files!

Ok well it seemed I ran into a glitch somewhere but I will give my steps and maybe we can see if I am on the right track

Steps:

1. Download the .img file

2. Download GmapTool

3. Loaded the .img into GmapTool

4. Choose "Split", selected directory, and choose "Create: files for Mapsource", did not choose "Compile Preview Map" or "Set Mapset ID"

5. Choose "Split all" and let the process complete

6. Download MapSetToolKit.1.77(other versions might work but this is what I used)

7. Open MapSetToolKit.1.77

8. Press "Select Img"

9. Choose the folder that GMapTool output to(from step 4) with all the 12345678.img files

10. Then used the steps from this website... [Please Register or Login to download file]

Upon opening Mapsource it seemed to work. I had all the img files and the map dropdown contained the BlueChart v11 map.

However it seems that either the map has so much detail that my PC cannot load it all or this will just never work. This did show promise but not perfect.

Attached is a screen shot of what I get. If I zoom in on a piece of the map I loose the map all together. If I change the detail level from Highest to High I get some change but any zooming will loose the map.

I don't know if I am trying to put a square peg in a round hole here but this might be a start or maybe set some better minds to work

Hmmm, What am i doing wrong, I've installed BaseCamp & MapSource, then used the method described above to extract the heap of images with Gmaptool, then used Mapsettoolkit to load images and 'Install' to Mapsource, but when i start it up, there's still no maps in there? Everything seems to be running fine, i must be missing something?
