Can anyone tell me how I can replace ALL files on a DriveSmart 50 (not maps) as if were just out of the box.

Hi again,
Am I in the correct forum or should I ask in the software forum about how to renew all files in the DriveSmart 50?
BTW would using "Cure" be of any use to me?

Have downgraded to 5.60 and rerun simulated trip NY to JFK - all works well.
Turned off unit to try again and Calculating stops at 52% while showing a detailess screen of my location without an SD card inserted eventually and the US maps being unticked and reticked before attempting simulation.
After approx 10 mins. of the screen "Calculating 52%" a window appears saying route cannot be calculated.

Replacing all the original files is very extreme on a NON bricked device, and I would not recommend this.
Your picture shows exactly what you did Start out location the same as destination. 39min round trip ,this shows that the device is working with the original N.American maps as it should.

As you are actually in Thailand when in simulation mode ,if you do not set a location (starting point) and then go back to "Where is" and set a destination, the device will try to calculate from where it last got a satellite fix (Thailand) to where you just set the location somewhere in N.America "route cannot be calculated" .
You need to master simulation mode before anything else.

Hi again,
Followed your instructions and watched 2 videos on "Simulated Mode" I believe I did it right this time.
Picked Warren Street NJ to JFK - worked fine. Tried it a second time to make sure - again OK.
Do I presume I can load the SD card with Thailand 2020.20 and try a similar trip?

Hi Again,
For peace of mind and making sure -
1. Format SD card to FAT 32.
2. Create Folder "Garmin" on card.
3.Drop Folders "Original & Patched" + "SD card Kit" into "Garmin" Folder.
4. Inset SD card making sure device is full off and wait for reboot.
5. Take HWM folder from Thai map and drop into SQLite folder on device.
6. Done.

NO ,you should not try to combine Patching with putting maps on a SD card.
Follow Instructions to Patch device below.
SD Card Kit
Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to a Fresh/Empty SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed,so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

Then when it has been patched successfully and you have saved the 154.bin.You can format the SD card and create two folders called Map and Garmin, then place the files as the above layout.

Hi again,
The Thai map is on a separate SD card.
I wanted to be sure of the correct sequence - is it correct as above?

What you have said above in your list does not make any sense at all, for the last time, as everyone else has done, follow the instructions to patch your device given.
The kit has all the files and folders to extract to a CLEAN SD card 2-3 don't make sense

Hi again,
Followed your instructions to the letter. Checked the internal US maps in "Simulated mode" and works well.
Turned off and re-tried to make sure - worked fine.
Inserted SD card with Thai 2020.20 map, unticked US maps and followed EXACTLY same procedure as US maps.
Lilac Route line does not follow roads and vehicle icon does not follow lilac route but seems to make a direct bee-line for destination.
Tried twice and exactly the same outcome.

So two weeks and multiple Posts, turned out nothing wrong with the device or patched firmware, you just didn't know how to use simulation !

Reset the device clear non volatile memory.

Hi again,
I merely checked "How to Simulation Mode" as you had me thinking I had done something wrong as your version differs from the youtube versions.
Obviously there is something wrong when the internal US maps work OK in "Simulated Mode" but the Thai map does not.

I fully agree, there is something wrong, but without screenshots of the SD card or the behaviour you are describing how can anyone even guess what it is.

Just using a logical approach, eventually we proved there is nothing wrong with your device and multiple members including myself are using the Thailand maps without problem. I suggest you format your SD card and download them again starting a fresh.

Hi again,
Have retested with US and Thai maps and took screenshots.
Tried searching in Navitotal about "adding images" - "adding photos" etc. no info.
Googled "adding images / photos to Navitotal - no info.
If there are details on "how to" somewhere please let me know.
The usual form of dragging images into the box or "add images" is not available here.

I suggest you format your SD card and download them again starting a fresh.

This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Did you do this ?
Reset the device.
don't worry about any other files, just put the Thailand .img in the Map folder on the SD card.

Hi Again,
Format SD card and loaded newly downloaded map.
Held power button for 12 secs - No message appears and starts up as normal.
Cleared user data.
Simulated Mode. Kanchanapisek Road to Suvarnabhumi airport.
Lilac line does not follow roads and vehicle icon goes its own way.
