Adding multiple maps in Garmin Nuvi GPS

About Garmin maps Additions files (gmap3d-JCV-gmaptz-ASR-G2S))

Thx PietU but... my answer have more complexity of your interesting sticky thread.

To use the junction view files, drag the entire “JCV” folder into your “Garmin” folder.( x:\Garmin\JCV )
folder.( x:\Garmin\JCV )or
JCV in a subfolder called JCV on the SD Card

JVC : folder.( ZUMO:\Garmin\JCV ) or [ONLY] or/and [mem/SDCARD] also?

same answer on gmap3d.img in /Garmin folder of internal Memory.. it's possible other one simultaneusly on /Garmin folder of SDCARD?

for MAPS teorically..
four on internal memory
* gmapbmap.img - the default base map
* gmapprom.img - the primary mapset
* gmapprom1.img - the secondary mapset
* gmapoem.img - the OEM mapset that cannot be unselect by user (if it exist)

and other one ONLY maps on SDCARD:
* gmapsupp.img - the supplemental mapset which you can have one in the attached SD card.

I have lots of maps on my device all working perfectly...

i can just disable the ones i don't use in the setup > map > map info / select map

my oregon 450t has the latest official software update

I have 16GB class 10 microSDHC cost me £20 and is working perfectly :D

i just name my maps with names that i can identify easily

DISCOGB50K.IMG <---Discovery GB 50K
DISCOGB50K.UNL
TOPOGB2.IMG <---- Topo GB v2
TOPOGB2.UNL
TOPOPL.IMG <---- Topo Poland 2011
TOPOPL.UNL
TPDGB25K.IMG <---- Thames Path Discover GB 25k
TPDGB25K.UNL

I am sure i can just keep adding maps to my SD card in the GARMIN folder and they will all work :D

yes, new device/firmwares eg. 1.xxxx series can use \map directory also and any name for image
old nuvi series and mobile XT & PC can use only garmin folder and couple names what is given in tutorial section

There is no general answer that works for each device, just need to try and wrote in this forum info about the experiences of various devices

This has been a great help. I have just updated the firmware on my Oregon 400c and put in an 8GB Micro SD. I have loaded and renamed several *.img files on the card. They all load and are listed to en- or disable.
Other advantages of the firmware upgrade - a Man Overboard button (I sail), waypoint averaging and "sight'n'go" which is great for staying on course when not actually navigating to a waypoint.

Keep up the good work
