Micro SD Card CID

Postby andy1961 » Thu Dec 23, 2010 10:41 am

I'm struggling to find a method to retreive the CID of a micro SD card. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
1. put the SD card in a card reader
2. open a command box
3. change to the SD card drive by typing its letter, followed by : (for instance G:)
4. enter the command dir
5. it will show you the volumes serial number in hexadecimal (like A2E9-9237)
6. use the Windows Calculator (scientific view) to calculate the serial number in decimal out of it (like 2733212215)
7. I hope it is right then, I never used this method (didn't need it, cause I always use unlocked maps on SD cards)

all the best
q

I understood this to be the volume ID, not the device ID (CID). the volume ID changes when the card is formatted, the CID is fixed. If I could unlock the UK 1:50 map that would also serve my purpose.

I was looking for this function too but could never get a home brewed solution. I ended up finding a company that makes an SID reader. Go to nexcopy.com and look in their SD or microSD duplicator section. It can do 20 cards at a time
