tried that NRT ........ seems to be everytime I connect to Mobile driver software. Its the most to update driver/version etc

Did you install "Windows Mobile Device Centre"?

of course. .. its when you start that, and it tries to connect with the Sat Nav you get the problem

Are you connecting through a hub? A connect-disconnect-connect situation is usually a conflict with something, do you have card reader software installed, or another USB device connection software?

Direct from the Sat Nav to the Laptop. Nothing else plugged in.

Either the device has a hardware problem or more likely there is a software conflict on the laptop
