I am looking for the map file and process of updating the device. I seen that there are unlocked maps but cannot seem to figure out which one I need.

I see this: America - City Navigator North America NT 2017.20
I am leaning toward that as being what I need and I know that gmapprom is the map file but I am not sure about all the other files listed in that thread.

Sorry i did'nt noticed! So your basic map gmapprom.img ! About the other files it depends if you ever upgrade somehow the firmware some of such devices can be upgraded and recognize also JCV views

I just realized that the mapset of the file I have is exactly like the file here: new-maps-f88/city-navigator-north-america-2017-t18771.html except for the ending. .20/.30.

I then found this: post79939.html#p79939

so maybe I could take the file I have, rename it to gmapsupp.img and place it in X:\Garmin and it work. The file I have came from a Nuvi 52 that I had updated. I found a unlocker which I used on the map file.

I have succeeded in installing the latest map on my Nuvi 1300. As I mentioned before, I pulled the map file from my newer Nuvi 52 which I had updated with the Garmin Express program. Unlocked the map file with Protected Garmin file toolkit and placed that map file on a sd card in the Garmin folder (X:\Garmin) under the file name gmapsupp.img
