Newbie, problem unlocking map in Basecamp

Postby CKAJCA » Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:44 am

I have installed Basecamp and then replaced the patched .exe. I have installed the Topo Spain V4.0 and I can see the map with all the detail. When I try to send the map to my Garmin 76CS using the MapInstall the Wizard tells me the following map products are locked Topo Espana V4 so I click on Unlock Maps and then click on Unlock regions, hit Add and enter in the 25 characters that I got when I ran Jetmouse. In the Unlock regions list, Topo Espana V4 now appears but in the Map Product Information it tells me it is not authenticated. I am therefore unable to upload any maps. What am I doing wrong? ANy help or advice would be much appreciated.

Your headline is wrong - you have no problem to unlock the map in basecamp - your problem is to unlock the map for your device!

Obviously you have updated the firmware of your 76cs so that you can't unlock maps with FID>2200 with JetMouse anymore.

Don't panic - this is no really problem :D! You can use MapSource Unlocker to unlock such maps on your PC for all programs and devices.

Thank you for your rapid reply, much appreciated. When I try to unpack the Mapsource Unlocker RAR my Avira anti-virus complains and tells me it has detected Malware in the file. Is Avira telling lies?

Yes, many so called security programs showing big warnings about KeyGens, patches and unlockers, but overlook real dangerous things.

I have copied the Unlock Mapsource exe into c:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp\Maps\Global Application Basemap v2.gmap and run it. It tells me it is done but when I start BaseCamp and go to Tools - Manage Products - Map Product Information it still tells me that Topo Espana V4 is locked. I am starting to feel like an idiot that I cannot get this sorted :chok_mini:

Hi,

Under Vista, I copied and ran the unlock mapsource exe into c:\programdata\garmin\maps\ESPANAv4.gmap, and it worked.

Why do you want to unlock the global basemap? It is not locked :D

You have to put the UnlockMapsource.exe into the map folder of your locked map. If you have W7 it could be
Code: Select all
C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps\*.gmap

ProgramData could be hidden folder

Hi,

In fact, I have the same problem as CKAJCA. This morning, i tried to send to my etrex Vista HCx a few maps from Topo Spain V4 and GPS told me maps were locked. Although the mapsource unlocker (v 2.2) unlocked Topo Spain v4 (with "not lockable" state) in all my Mapsource version (6.13.7, 6.15.11, 6.16.3 and 6.16.3 patched) and not only in the patched version, transfer to my device didn't work.
So, I put the .gmap folder to the bin and reinstalled Topo Spain V4 by unlocking the map with keygen 1.3. Although I can only see the map in Mapsource 6.16.3 patched, transfer to my etrex works well.

Sergio.
