Hello all,


I am a newbie in terms of Garmin, and I need some help. I got from my sister a Nuvi 200 with the US map. So far so good, the problem now is that I am living in Brazil and I would love to wipe the US map, and install South America map, this way I can travel around. I did a lot of search on the forums and on the tutorials, but I didn't find a lot of step by step instructions. I would love to upgrade everything that is possible on this device, the OS and the Map. If you guys can point me in the right direction I would appreciate. Here is what inside of this unit, Nuvi 200, Software V 4.40, Audio Version:2.0, GPS SW Version 2.90s, America lite basemap 4.00
I am current downloading South America - City Navigator South America NT 2012.10
what else do I need to bring this device up to date and working in Brazil?

When you connect nuvi 200 to PC go folder named \Garmin

here is map files named GMAPPROM.IMG this your US map, copy ALL GMAPPROM.* files to safe place and then delete them from device
now copy your unlocked south america image file to device \Garmin folder rename it to GMAPPROM.IMG and start your device again....

( These US files can also be GMAPSUPP.IMG )

Hey Pietu,


Fase one was done with success and very easy thanks to your help, as I keep on learning I see on the maps that there are cityXplore maps for specific cities, question is, if I want to add that map to my Nuvi 200, what do I have to do ?. I unlocked a couple of cities maps but they all have the same name and I don't want to overwrite anything that is installed successfully in the device, help, please!
