Nuvi 370 turns off ?

Postby castiger » Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:26 am

My Garmin Nuvi 370 randomly turns off. It has a full battery bar showing yet it will randomly turn itself off and it does the same thing if it's on battery power, plugged into the computer via USB or hooked up to the car charger.

It was working fine a few weeks ago until i decided to update it. My Nuvi 370 is about 3 years old and the maps were out of date, so i hooked the sat-nav up to my laptop via USB and did the firmware update. I then paid for a one off map update and set it going doing the updates. Anyway it was late and the estimated update time said 3 hours, so i went to bed. When i got up the next morning the laptop said it had hit an error with the update an the sat-nav had turned itself off.

I managed to re-update the maps just doing the UK part of the maps instead of putting the whole map upload in and i've also tried to reset the sat-nav by putting my finger in the top right corner on turn on, but my Nuvi 370 now unusable.

Now when i turn the Nuvi 370 on, it randomly shuts down. Sometimes it will stay on for 15 minutes or so, but sometimes it doesn't even load the maps before it's turned itself off. Does anyone have a cure for this problem ?

Could it be that the sat-nav needs a new battery ?

Not a clue if the firmware update worked with old maps because i updated the maps without trying. I haven't a clue why the thing keeps turning itself off though and would be willing to try anything.

The maps i tried putting in first were all Europe, but that's why i got an error. I've put the UK and Ireland maps in now because the Nuvi 370 can't take the full update using USB. I would have to use a memory card to get the rest. Anyone got any idea's why my Nuvi turns itself off all the time ?

maybe your map is corrupted like "some error happen" when you download it.....

you can try downgrade your firmware also if needed...what is your current firmware??

1. delete all your nuvi
2. make new firmware update with webupdater ( be sure ...any errors not coming... update also voices and other with same tool
3. and use this map above... unlock it first....

If firmware update goes fine and map works then someting wrong in your device (that i do not beleave)

be sure you have full charged device before firmware update. some times after firmware update you must go outside and keep your device same place when gps singnal is founded

I think my Nuvi 370 has something wrong inside it because i removed everything, did the firmware update and started putting the maps in and it turned off. I turned it back on to find i've got a nuvi with no maps installed at all.

I've just ordered a new battery from Amazon and hope that cures my turning off problem. If it doesn't i'm going to smash the thing up with a hammer and forget all about it. I've got another cheap sat-nav anyway and i think i've given this one my best shot and failed so far.
