Nuvi 3790T Frozen on locale screen

Postby gooberzip » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:53 am

Hi all,
I am hoping someone can assist as I have a Garmin Nuvi 3790T and the screen is stuck on the Select a Locale screen but there are no country options, The up and down arrow buttons don't do anything and the the only option highlighted is the OK button.
I have also attempted a hard reset and that has not worked so I don't know what else to try.
Travelling tomorrow morning so and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Rob

The problem I am having is that the device will not detect in my MAC or WINDOWS laptops. As soon as I plug the unit in with the USB cable it powers up, goes through the startup sequence and then goes straight to the Select a Locale screen. It does not switch off showing the little hard drive on the screen. I understand that once the device is detected and and is displayed as a drive i can perform the update. I have been working on this for the last hour and a half.
Trying to provide as much information as I can.

No that site doesn't have anything that relates to my problem.
This thing is only a few weeks old and I am not impressed with it or the support I have had from Garmin.
I am hoping someone on the forum here would be able to assist.

Hi PiEtU,

I performed the hard reset with the cable unplugged. I then let the unit restart and it goes directly to the select a locale screen with no country options and only the OK button highlighted.

Please view the uploaded photo for more information. i hope this give you some more information as I can't do anything with this unit at the moment.

Guys,

I haven't had a reply from any of the people mentioned above ( I sent an email to Sam Penrod) or Garmin all week and I am desperate to get this thing going. Is there a maintenance mode for a 3790T and if so what is the procedure or is there any way of formatting this?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Rob

Thanks Kalaiyan for the file, but can you tell me what the procedure is to communicate with the device as it will not detect via USB and I don't have a serial port on my WINDOWS or MAC laptops. You help would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

This is cure for SG/MY firmware.

For EU/US is this one use this one:
[Please Register or Login to download file]

It is without GIR part. Just only to enter in USB Mode and delete problematic files.

I made them some time ago.
