Physical Diffrences Between Drivesmart 65 & 65 with Alexa

Postby redmed » Fri Jan 26, 2024 5:35 am

I have been watching Ebay for a Drivesmart 65 with Alexa. I would like to find a physical difference between a Drivesmart 65 and a Drivesmart 65 with Alexa. I have noticed some have a triangle above the embossed Garmin on the back and some don't. Or possibly a serial number range. Something to identify a unit as a Alexa unit even when the person selling the unit does not know that it is a unit with Alexa.

Looks like Garmin Express identifies Alexa and possibly the prefix 5Y of the serial number.

The about page of the device will show the Voice command Alexa version currently 1.20

All this requires you to ask the seller, to my knowledge there is no physical distinction between them

NB:

Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,55,65,66,71,76,86, zumo XT ,Alpha 200i, Montana 700 ,GPSMAP 67 & 67i are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new encrypted format.

I think you may be right about the 5Y prefix. Thanks GarminNuvi
