I recently posted a thread on the forum re Proximity Alert not sounding when near speed cameras. I´ve been digging round tínternet and found this ...
Cyclops speed camera locations are different. Firstly, they are invisible on the map until you approach them, and then are only visible, by icon and audible warning, if you are travelling close-to or above, the speed setting of that camera. Many people complain that they drive past a camera but did'nt get a warning. Here's why. Example: if you approach a 70mph camera (excuses to my continental friends) at 65mph or faster, you will get a warning. But approach a 70mph camera at 50mph and you'll get nothing because it's of no threat to you. You can stand under a speed camera with your GPS unit but the camera won't show-up. They are also direction relative. If the camera is monitoring the opposite carriageway to the one you are travelling on, you don't get a warning. Of course it is also quite possible that the camera has got missed from the data! Tip of the day: Always keep within the speed limit....
Is this my problem,´cos I´m sure I get the speed camera icon at lower speeds but no audible alert. Or is it something to do with the audio file. I have a Nuvi 255w which apparently uses .wav format and not mp3.
Does the Cyclops gpi file contain audio info to sound the alert or is the audio file somewhere else on my satnav ?
If Cyclops contains mp3 can I convert to wav ?
Grateful for any help.
Thanx
