just found the unit in a cupboard.
well out of date now something like 5 years i think.
can it be updated at all
software is version 3.40 (just updated software via garmin web site)
audio is version 2.70
the map is city navigator Europe nt+8

yes, just download latest maps...

look intenal/sd-card memory size
go \garmin folder and look here what map images is now...

do i just copy map to sd card over the old map and thats it or is there more to like doing a tomtom.

Yes, here is garmin folder, what *.img & .unl files here is.

first make backup all *.img and .unl files

go here Download some unlocked map from second post. look your card size first....
