streetpilot c310 update help

hiya all

guy at work asked me to have a look at above so i said ok but beginning to wish i hadnt, can do tomtom and wince
but this one, going round in circles, spent most of yesterday on here and still not got very far.

managed to update software on unit via webupdater and thats about it

downloaded mapsource, official and patched, but that doesnt show me anything, it sees the
unit and says it transfered from but comes up with message
"following mapsource products not installed" city navigator europe nt v8 + traffic

downloaded "gmapsupp diskimage nt 2013" that doesnt show in mapsource (different file extension wants .gmx or .uca
and gmapsupp is .img)

files on sd card are GARMIN folder, in folder is gmapsupp disk image file and gmapsupp.unl UNL file, card is only 240mb
everything i have looked at on here is way in excess of that

all i am after is an uptodate uk map and how to install

any and all help greatly appreciated

All what you need is this package. After unpacking install it with double klick on CNEUNT2014_20Update.msi.
Then start the installed program MapInstall and select your device or data card. Select parts of the Europe map as much as space is available.
Old maps can be deleted before (gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img incl. *.unl file).
