ForumI have this original map, I want to unlock it to insert it into another 64ST handheld, I used gimgunlock 0.04 but my handheld keeps giving me the message Can not Authenticate Maps contact content seller help.
What type of patch should I use to unlock this map?

Could you upload it to the New Maps section?

I would like to upload the map to the forum once unlocked and tested, If I use universal patcher to patch the handheld firmware the map works properly on the Garmin Alpha 100.
I also tried unlocking the map with gmgunlock 0.04 but on Garmin Astro 320 It works on Garmin Alpha 100 with Firmware Version 6.70 and from the following message "Can not Authenticate Maps contact content seller help".
Alpha 100 mounts MSV, but the trekmap v4 that I run without patching the firmware.

Likely this is a not an NT map with Code Page 1252 because your Alpha 100 has weak MSV protection so can use those maps quite ok. Best to upload the map so it can be properly examined as CNFHBR suggested.

Perhaps the new map v5 has become Unicode (CP65001) unlike the previous v4.
Your Alpha 100 has a weak MSV, so you can unlock the map using gimgunlock-0.04 (without patching your firmware), but in the case of a Unicode map you must apply the Temporary authentication of Unicode maps.

3. Load this modified map into the device, test the map, it should work but without unicode features.
If you are interested in unicode features of the map, then perform the next item.
4. Unload the modified map and then load the source original locked map, now you can use the original locked map right down to the next hard reset ... After reset your map will be locked again.

Using Maps with Unicode is not a real benefit, but a needing. All European Map are coded in Unicode.
If you use a, we can call them standard language as English or Italian as well, you might have no need to use Unicode, but if you use or search for any other language (like Russian, Spanish, German, Greek) the Unicode support is very helpful.

Ok I am preparing the Locked Map upload, in any case how do I proceed to unlock this map while maintaining UNICODE without patching the handheld firmware with Universal Patcher?

As is known, Unicode maps contain not only Latin characters in the labels but also other languages characters and signs (like Greek, Cyrillic, Turkish, Hebrew, Baltic, etc.). This feature is used when displaying the map, as is also for searching.
