TTS on nuvi 205W?

TTS on nuvi 205W?

Postby Galane » Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:52 am

I got a nuvi 205W for $99.99, updated it to the latest software (which added a few things it didn't originally have), downloading the free map update right now.

It's just about perfect for my parents, except for no TTS. Is there any way to add TTS? I've done some searching but mostly found old threads and some info that it depends on the hardware revision of this model - but not a thing about how to tell what the hardware revision is.

Well that's a useless reply. Read what I wrote again, assuming you actually read it ALL the first time.

I wrote you that 205 model doesn't support, and that's all, is that dificult to understand ?! If somebody told you that is possible, then ask him to do that for you ;)!

Revision of hardware is mailnly located on bottom of device titled like "REV. A B C D" , or "REV V1, V2" etc. but that's not important nuvi 205 isn't produced for tts suport! You can change software revision with firmware upgrading, and that's all...

I found some old info on changing the firmware in a 205W to firmware from a 255W as they were identical hardware, but there have been different hardware revisions and the firmware must match the hardware.

You can do it, but that's not suggested and not so much tested, do it on your risk! Yes it's correct they are with hardware very similary, but not identical :) , then what's point to produce same devices :) ...
