Unlocked Map in Mapsource

Postby Mister B » Sat Oct 06, 2012 7:41 am

Hello,

All my maps in MS are unlocked. However, whenever I export a map from MS to my device, the IMG File is locked and quite often can't be unlocked. Why is this?

In which format are the maps (classic MS or gmap)?
How are the maps unlocked?
Which maps you are speaking about?
Which device do you have?

The problem occurs with a classic MS Map covering the whole of Europe (EUR 2013.20). I downloaded the unlocked map here and when I export some of the tiles to a new map, the device says that the map is locked. My device is a 765TFM. I am using MS 6.16.3 patched. I have experienced this problem with previous versions of this map.

In short, that problem is due to the way the mapsource files are unlocked (not fully unlocked)... They are unlocked so the work in mapsource but the gmapsupp.img files you generate are locked.

The easy solution.

1. Download the GImgUnlock.exe tool

2. Each time you create a gmapsupp.img from mapsource, drag the file onto the GImgUnlock.exe tool icon and your gmapsupp.img will be imediatley unlocked and can be used on any GPS or Data Card.
