Thanks for the reply Fatboyfun. I am using windows - device shows up as Mio so transferred files over 1 by 1 - all ok except miomap which seemed to take for ever, cancelled it again and when I checked the copied file it was all there, appeared to be anyway , file sizes and everything matched . I will install activesync anyway...
Oh, the full title for llanfairpwllgwyngyll is:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and the english translation is
"Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave."
I live about 4 miles from there and the locals call it Llanfair or llanfairpwll.
Thanks again all....going to try the unlock now

Do exactly what I told you. Nothing more, nothing less! The C320 and C520 are basically the same device. If it works on mine, it will work on yours. Listen to me, I know what I'm doing with your device.
The links ARE present for both programs. Primo 1.2 - click the + sign in the spoiler and the link appears. Igo 8.3 - the link is obvious.
Did you download the unlock I told you to? The attachments show you how to apply the unlock to your device. Look closely at it. Ask questions if you're not sure of something.
In order to back-up your device, simply connect to your computer via a USB port and copy everything at once from the Mio device letter to a folder on your computer.
EDIT: Yes, the same thing appears when you start your device. Touch the MioMap button and the unlock appears.

@ chas521

igo 8.3 - if i had the right 1 - it contained a us file and a family reunion...cant be right - can it?
downloaded unlock - put apps folder on the root file.
then it says " put the miomap folder and the launchpad folder in the first miomap folder on your internal drive" I have put it in the miomap folder - is this right ?
Also.
" Remember to make sure the folder containing miomap 3.3 (if you still have it) is called mio 3.....haven`t got a clue on this one cant find anything with miomap 3.3
Up early in the morning for work...will check back tomorrow night when I get home from work..
Thanks again all for you patience..

I am going to make this as easy as going to the bathroom [LOL] for you. Just copy this to your Mio
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?3290-My-3.3-internal-Flash-drive-with-the-Mio-unlock-already-contained and from the other download just replace the App folder.
I can't understand why you can't find the link in my Primo 1.2 post. Just click the + sign in the spoiler.

One question - how many navigation software you intend to install in your C520
Thu Mar 24, 2011 11:21 am
Morning Peacher, just happened to check if there were any replies as I am in work at the mo. Navigation wise probably Mio and Igo...basicall just wanted to unlock to tweak if poss and I was hoping to find some mapping suitable for walking /rambling. Please see my original post. thanks for the reply by the way.
What I have found with a lot of these unlock threads etc is that there are a few available but the instructions on how to do it are a bit lacking ie: do you need to replace the original software with the unlocking software, do you need to change file names before putting new programs on the device...what happened to the old step by step guides which are very usefull for those lacking in knowledge.
thanks again.

There is another way apart from unlocking.
You need to make changes to your Mio software mainshell folder.
Located it in program files/mainshell
Edit the mainshell.xml and ini to work with any navigation software you want.
Just follow exactly the format of the files - edit the location of the software for ini file.
Edit the icon file in the xml file for icon replacement.
If you want more than one. Then sacrifice one other program in your main page.
Follow the same method to work.
This will not cause a lack in navigation for your 64mb memory.

Thanks for that Peacher but at 56 yrs old, all that is slightly over my head. Im on nights tomorrow night so will have time in the morning to have another go at things without rushing , will try chas521 my33 again, surely though if that has miomap in it, the original one on the Mio would have to be renamed otherwise there would be a conflict? or am I losing the plot here ;o)
Thanks for your help all, appreciated.
