Advise Please Mio C520

Postby chas521 » Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:45 pm

dilmon,

Delete everything off your Mio and follow my instruction in post #23 to the letter. Install ONLY the link that I gave you to your Mio on the internal drive. All programs go on sd card. Nothing more, nothing less - except for the app folder from the other download I gave you in post #10! You will be replacing the app folder from 23 with 10.

EDIT: I have your device and it is working 100%.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Hello chas521, thank you for that. That makes a bit more sense now to delete everything prior to installing the "new"software, I thought it a bit funny when the device told me it did not have enough memory when I tried to copy over and i had to delete some voice files to make room.

I will have a go in the morning ( knowing me it will be before bed ) thank you again..

Well. That's up to you.
Our age difference is only 365 days.
Still to early to give up on learning.

Stay on the track with Chas to finish where you started.
Meantime - backup your original files.
Upload a copy of your mainshell folder here.
I will tell what to do

Peacher , wish you would stop swearing at me...... seriously though, I will come back to this after I have sorted out my main task. Thanks ( is this anything to do with the bit I read about enlarging the fonts in the maps? )

Cheers..

No ideas about maps.
Know nothing about Igo maps details.

Dilmon, just follow Chasses lead. As he said, he has the same device, he unlocked it and look what he is running (see his signature).
Do not mix up methods! A Mio can make a nice paperweight when things go wrong.

Mio devices never have software death only hardware problems.
No paper weight unless thrown on the floor.

Don't be too sure about that, Peacher. You could loose money betting on that!

dilmon,

I will say this for the last time. Please let it sink in and if you want your device to work properly [hundreds of others have] then do it only my way with this. I don't usually speak like this so you'll just have to bear with me now. Now it's up to you. You have everything you need except the content.

Everything is OK so no need to apologize. I was just trying to get you so upset that you would finally listen to ME. You do NOT use MioMap maps. You only use iGO maps from now on with .fbl extension in iGO 8.3 and Primo.
