Hi all,

I have managed to find your place by searching for an unlock hack for the Mio C520.
I have managed to get hold of a brand new one quite cheap but with no maps on DVD.
( DVD not included)
Obviously this satnav is no longer supported and as far as I can see, popular opinion is not to upgrade the firmware....2007 maps installed.
Can someone please advise on an unlock which includes maybe some extra mapping
Igo 8? maybe? Better bluetooth features, currently won`t upload phonebook/contacts.
Also, are there any maps available for walking ...viewranger maps for instance, could i put something like that on there?

Not too fussed about video/music player etc.
Any help advise appreciated and I bow to your superior knowledge.

Chas521 can help you with this. He lives on the other side of the ocean, so be a little patient. He will be on line later.
Be aware you can brick the device and make it into a fancy paperweight, so wait for his guidance.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have been doing some reading up on the forum as I find my way around. I have seen the topic on the Mio unlocks and up to now it looks like the "Mio pocket Lite" seems to be the type of thing I am after. I have downloaded to my desktop for now but I will not go any further till I know/have been advised of anything else. Regarding Miopocket Lite, does this include Igo and tomtom maps etc or does it just have the icons for the maps?
Anyway I will have a read on your link above and check back later .

Personally, I have never found MioPocket much to my liking and too much bloated for my taste. I much prefer the simple unlocks here because they do NOT affect the registry and can be easily modified if necessary. If you want me to help you and guide you, let me know. Btw, where is the Isle of Anglesey [I really don't know].

Well done all, llanfairpwll gwyngyll doesn`t have uchaf on the end of it though....can any of you say it rather than just write it . Anglesey is a little island at the top of north wales and is mostly welsh speaking. Back to the Mio......basically, 1: just want a simple unlock so i can get into the workings if need be. 2: Maybe a better bluetooth as in load up the phone back etc which it doesnt do at the moment. 3 poss ex maps Igo 8 or whatever version it is now. Quite easily pleased really ;o)

First thing I want you to do is back-up your device! Next, after you've done that is to unlock http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?4889-Mio-unlock-modified-for-Primo-1.2 next download and install these programs as is http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?4841-Working-Primo-1.2-with-TTS-from-my-device and http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?1837-Working-iGO-8.3-from-my-device Now you have two navs on your device and all you need do is add content.

Ok thanks , will have to do it tonight ....have to go out soon. I have only connected the C520 to my pc once since getting it about three weeks ago. I did see all the files in win exp although I couldnt get into the files. I take it I just make a new folder in my Docs or somewhere and then just copy all the files into there?

Just so you know. Unlock goes onto internal flash drive of the Mio and programs go onto SD card.

I seem to be having a bit of a problemn backing up the device - I have tried copying to another file 2-3 times and am now trying to burn onto a DVD. Everything seems to be going ok and then the Mio just hangs there saying 1min 46secs to go and still hasnt gone any further 10 mins later. The DVD burn has now been hanging on 2 mins for the last 15/20 mins. Anyone any ideas please. I dont want to try the unlock till I have a backup..

Does the Mio connect via ActiveSync or WMDC? (Shows up in My Computer as Mobile/Portable device) If it does copy one folder at a time or you get exactly the problem you describe.
