application failed to start warning

Postby chas521 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 5:05 am

First of all, forget Primo in the US. I find that iGO8 navigates better. Take my word for it - I've tried them all. Garmin Mobile XT is pretty good also. Do you want to go back to the navigation arrow instead of the Honda Civic. It's easy to change back.

I'm doing this from memory because my USB cable has died. GFX folder, delete five files [all the car.mdl and blue-civic.tex]. Check it out. Perhaps you should back up those five files just in case I remembered wrong.

EDIT: Do you have red light cameras where you live? I included the speedcam.txt in my upload. I also modified my audio file so it says red light camera instead of just making a sound but I can't upload it for you right now because of my dead cable.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I already backed up and deleted those files. Now I am left with a HUGE arrow. Will figure that out shortly. Also, I can find anywhere to decrease the transparency of the side items. I find the top and bottom bar?!?

To reduce huge arrow, go to sys.txt in program root and play with those 3D numbers [reduce] until you like it.

[map]
3d_scale_carmodel=1
3dcarsizemul=10000
3dcarsizemin=7000
3dcarsizemax=8000

What is your resolution?

Just 2 last questions! How do I make the default 2d screen zoomed in more? Can you adjust the transparency level of the menu items on the ride side of the map?

1. Mapmaker thing only. Probably. Options?
2. Skin thing only. If you find something please post how.

Well, I have all but given up on this error message. I have tried every Primo i could find from early 1.2 to the latest 2.4. All show the same warning "application failed to start last time. Do you want to reset to factory defaults and lose all your pois,tracks and settings?" during boot up, but work perfectly. I just hate having to select "no" everytime. IGO8 works perfectly with no warning, so as it will be my software of choice. I still would like to figure it out, but after searching and searching for 2 days on a possible solution, I am out of options. I have zero issues with IGO8, just want to have the option to have a flawless working Primo.

I wonder what "flag" causes this because iGO and Primo are two (if not THE 2 only) software that don't influence the registry. And that is the place - when not a file - that would hold that "flag"

There is a registry entry for Igo, maybe more. the one i found was under HKEY Local Machine/Software/IGO/ There is an entry named "Startsuccess" mine ="t" which from what I read is correct, so other than that?!? I even tried deleting that entry and it came back after first boot. I also read that 3 bad boots in a row triggers this error, which makes sense since when I was trying to get Primo 2 working, i had a few bad boots trying to get everything straightened out. I assumed the flag would be in the registry, and it may be somewhere, just havent found it. And its only Primo versions that are affected by this. Igo8 doesnt see this error.

First post here, but hopefully I can add something useful to help.

I had the same problem with my Chinese 7in double din unit. I managed to fix it by going into the GPS set up page and hit "repair document" and then "initialise" It resets everything so you will have to reset your clock and settings, but should fix your boot problem.

I have the same issue. Can't exit the in-memory app because it throws up the yellow "Please close navi!" screen when I punch the "Navi Path" button. This is a cheap Chinese radio, don't think there's any access to the internal battery without pulling the radio, but that may be what I'm stuck with doing!?
