Auto Day/Night issue with iGo8.3

Auto Day/Night issue with iGo8.3

Postby siberian » Fri Feb 10, 2012 6:36 pm

As iGo somehow can't set the time automatically, I set my own time zone from the list provided. This shows the time correctly in the panel menu. However the Automatic switch from Day to Night (CLUT inversion) is very erratic or doesn't happen at all - meaning it stays on night all the time. I suspect it is still taking China time despite the fact that the time displayed is correct. I've disabled GPS time correction and auto time set from satellite.

Has anyone else had this? TIA

You did right. Let the satellite lock create the correct time. Don't help it. You cannot keep the correct time since that's the way it is in the program. Also, when you get a satellite lock, it will be YOUR location.

OK, so why doesn't the auto day/night work correctly off the time zone/clock time I entered and is shown?

Make sure that it's set correctly in settings.

If I am misunderstanding that statement, ignore everything that follows.
WinCE is notoriously bad at keeping the time correct. Especially after a hard reset. Not only may the time be incorrect, the DECADE may be.
If you disable 'satellite time' (Auto) in the GPS program settings--does not really matter which program, but this counts for iGo/Primo too, you will then be relying on what WinCE reports as the time and date. Which will likely be wrong. Locking onto a satellite, and thus correcting the time, is the best course. This may take a minute or six after the GPS program starts, but it will catch up..and perhaps suddenly change the day/night scheme when it does. If not, it may be some issue with the scheme settings...try different ones.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Well I did. If I try satellite clock it immediately says "unable to get time, do you wish to set manually?". So I choose "yes" and I am presented with a list of time zones. I select the appropriate one and the time shown is correct and matches the vehicle clock (so there is no disparity between it and the ((independent)) vehicle clock).

If I then go back into "settings" and select time again and re-select the correct time zone (even though it is shown correctly) then the display changes back to the correct day/night setting. The "disable" night time works, as if enabled it will constantly show day.

I've not performed a hard reset.

Is there anything else I've missed?

Go to settings, map screen, color profiles and you can make the changes there.
