Autodetecting GPS receiver..

nabi wrote:Anyway, the becker software is still on the device? And Primo? On an sd?
it's possible the GPS is preoccupied by the original software (on start up the device), thus Primo can not use the gps.

Fatboyfun wrote:Apologies for butting in but can you tell us how you got Primo to run on your device? Because it sounds like the GPS driver isn't loading.

These answers are similar, so I think we told you the why.
Now I hope Fatboyfun can tell the howtosolveit

Forgive my ignorance but i don't know Becker devices too well, but has the Original Becker software loaded and then you are accessing Windows to run Primo? Because as Nabi says the Becker software will keep the GPS hardware to itself, WinCE can't share GPS data like WinMobile can.

Yes you right Fatboyfun, I don't mind removing original software from device to make Primo work, I used to run iGo8 on this unit but I deleted everything by playing with it and as long as I remember I need to keep one of original files or folders just to start, but I don't know which one. Because if I copy Primo software to empty device when I'm turn on it freezes on the becker start page and I can't do anything apart from shutdown, that's why I tried copy to sd card and start via windows exploler.

@chas521 please don't get upset I'm not saying that your software not working, I'm just saying that is something wrong at my end mate.

I don't know much about Becker devices either.
Except Becker does make changes to the software - iGO or Primo since a few years - therefor Becker releases do rarely work on other devices.
I suggest you do a google search for Pimp My Becker. This one ( [Please Register or Login to download file] ) is very good but in German Language.

No! I wasn't upset at all. Sorry if I gave you that impression. I was just trying to say that my program was fine and working fine also.

Did you rename the Primo folder/.exe to match the original Becker folder/.exe?

Yeah I did what you suggested but still the same, to be honest I don't have clue what's wrong with it.

Looking at the image above it seems the original Becker software is NOT in it's own folder, Just in the root of the card, While Primo is still in the Primo folder, Try moving the files/folders from the Primo folder to the root of the card.

Consider this. You can download and install the working iGO program and have it autodetect the satellite port and baud for you and transfer those numbers to Primo. Just a thought.

@chas521 that what i found out:
The Becker SW occupied after the start of the channels automatically.
You first need to manually turn off the Becker SW. The best way to use the Task Manager.
Then it should work.

I'm just trying to find out how to do it

I would mind to do what you suggesting but where I could get working iGo program?
