Binatone with Primo 2 -help please

Postby ralph199 » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:56 am

Hi,
I have recently acquired a Binatone Z430 which had old and slow maps. After much reading on the forum, I have downloaded and installed Primo 2 and and the Whereis R3 maps for Aust/NZ. All is working fine. I am now trying to instal the TTS Pro voices but am having limited success. They appear to instal ok but when I try to select a TTS voice, it is not greyed out so I can actually select it. However the selection does not stick. When I return to the previous page, my original voice is still selected.
Can you please suggest what I may be doing wrong....I'm now pulling my hair out!!!

Cheers

This could either be down to the memory division still set in the middle, or a bad version of tts, are you using Yurbuh Tuggly's version of tts?

Yes I'm using his version of TTS, and Yurbuh Tuggly suggested that maybe the Binatone doesn't have enough memory but that you would be in a better position to give an answer......

Have run the memory fix and got the ok message to remove the utilty etc. Fired up the Binatone but found the TTS voice still won't stick. I can see it and select it but when I return to the previous screen the original non-TTS voice is still shown as selected.

Any more suggestions please?

When you select it, do you get a short example of the speech "Have a nice trip, drive carefully"?

Is there a tts_nua_v5 folder in the primo root and does it contain the correct files for the tts language?

What other map related content do you have?

I get no speech example when selecting it.
In "Sounds and Warnings" there is an option beneath the "Voice Language" option (where I try to select the voice I want) that says TTS Pro. I have just noticed that this is greyed out.

There is a tts_nua_v5 folder within the "Content" folder in "MobileNavigator". The tts_nua_v5 folder contains "common/speech/components" folders and "ENA/phoneme and /speech" folders which in turn have some sub-folders.

The Australian/NZ maps are the only ones loaded and I must repeat that it all works fine except for the TTS voice which I would like because it speaks the street names.

That's in the wrong place.
The entire tts_nua_v5 folder should be in the ROOT...not in any subfolder.
Like this:
{Primo2}---MobileNavigator, in your case
>CONTENT
>LICENSE
>save
>tts_nua_v5
>branding.zip
>data.zip
>Primo2.exe
>sys.txt
>VAUTOV5.DLL

Move it and try again.

This file also must be there.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I moved tts_nua_v5. The rest were in the right places. TTS voice now speaks when I select it and stays selected when I back out of the settings.
So it's my mistake. I thought I had followed the installation instructions precisely but obviously I hadn't.
Thanks very much guys for your patience and help. I'm now a happy-chappy.
Cheers,

Excellent!
Good job, and don't feel too bad. You are not the first to make such a mistake, and probably will not be the last.:o
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
