My building have been demolished

Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:12 pm

Thanks to postings on here I have successfully setup Igo primo 2.0 on a Windows CE double din unit in Ford Focus. Really impressed with the software.

Anyway I decided (after a backup) to tidy some of the files up choosing only to keep the building files appertaining to the United Kingdon NQ_2011.Q3 map I am using.

However when I travelled on my usual route to work today I notice that some of the buildings that were displayed the day before had disappeared (I work in a hospital and the buildings there had been displayed).

The files I had removed were:

United_Kingdon_83_NNH_2009.12_100224.3dl
United_Kingdom_83_TA_Basic_2009.12_100325.3dc
UnitedKingdon.3dc
UnitedKingdom.3dl

choosing only to keep the one file:

United Kingdon NQ_2011.Q3_111114.3dc

I've now copied the other files back into the building directory and will check it out tomorrow but does 2.0 use the information in all the files in the building directory. And if so does the Q3 file (which is only 12mb in size compared to nearly 50mb in all files I had removed) not contain everything?

Just a suggestion. TA maps are MUCH better in UK than Navteq.

Why is that?

And next question (I am sure you knew it was coming) - have you a link for the latest TA maps for UK

Not so sure about that. TeleAtlas is better in Europe IN GENERAL, NOT EVERYWHERE !
Ask Fatboyfun, he is UK resident.

Actually, I think that I am. It's been my experience by the many posts I've seen over the years.

Did you look in the iGO map sub-section here?

Some older ones it seems.

Going to sound totally thick here.

I know my way around a Tomtom (cracked it years ago) but am new to the IGO software. Tomtom bought Teleatlas didnt they. I'm assuming that the .DAT files that Tomtom produce for their devices are not the same as the TeleAtlas (TA) ones then

TomTom bought TA. So although the iGO R3 maps say TT in the title, they are for iGO not TT.

Fatboyfun says Navteq : http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6824-UK-amp-ROI-Content-pack.&highlight=maps

I use Navteq maps and Teleatlas (now tomtom) building files + poi

The Navteq building files don't contain anywhere near the amount of building data Teleatlas does

Thanks for all your advice.

Could I ask - is it ok to have Navteq AND Teleatlas buildings and POI on together and if you do does IGO use both files or default to one (and if so which).

iGO will examine the files and use the latest one, i don't know if this applies between different providers,
Going to settings, about, more/content will list which content is loaded.

You can mix Navteq and Teleatlas content but all maps should be from the same provider, and Navteq's extra features like driver alerts and truck routing must be used with the map from the same set (ie 2011 Q3)

I find that (in the UK at least) Navteq maps are more up to date than Teleatlas maps, but Teleatlas's POI and building files are larger.
