Postby eskro » Wed Jul 28, 2010 5:46 am

Hi guys....

it says iGO8 supports Screen Resolutions of:

320x240 or 240x320,
240x240 or 320x320,
VGA (640x480),
240x400, 400x240,

but can someone explain me if i buy a 5" GPS unit that has a resolution of 800x480

like this one here --> [Please Register or Login to download file]

i wont be able to run iGO8 with this GPS correctly right?

thanx

You need the correct data.zip and maybe branding.zip with your screen resolution.
Both Igo and Primo work fine on my 7" with 800x480 including TTS.
But I suggest that you get your device first bevore you post more requests for a device you don't even have yet ;)
With CE6 you won't have any problems with GPS software on a 800x480device - at least with most of them:)

/Link removed/ <<< you'll have to google it yourself.

It's just one example that IT WORKS. You need to dig the right data.zip and sys.txt config (plus obviously a skin).

My concern would be the CPU on these Chinese GPS units...from what I read they don't quite live up to the specs. Then drawing the map and positioning the cursor can become a problem.
I remember when the HP IPaq 310 came out I was surprised it had dedicated video acceleration - for the same resolution.

If you don't trust the reseller, search for an other reseller or device.
Why did you choose that device in the first place? Now you have doubts?

I gave you a link before. I know for sure those devices are good. But it's a Europe reseller. I don't know if the device is available in Canada.
Someone else gave you another link, in Canada.

eskro...although the unit has a resolution of 800x480 it may not have that res for the sat nav ....i brought a unit cliaming 800x480 which in fact it did but only for the dvd player , when the sat nav booted up it was 480x234 resolution....but dont worry cos all the resolutions are available and you can test yours with a small program that is available....

Eskro, I have Igo running on a chinese 7" GPS and it came preloaded.
It runs fine and looks great.
Some pictures like the loading screen or the shut down screen are in low res, but the map is displayed nicely in 800x480 -because of the correct data.zip.
I really don't know why you so scared all of a sudden :)
If that thing has 800x480 than most softwares will run fine - OZI looks nice ;)
128mb RAM and at least 2GB of Flash and all is good ;)
