Thanks for uploading this. I'm sure some members will be happy to have them. However, just know that dem files are probably the biggest cause of memory errors.

I know what you mean! These DEM files are just decorated for your GPS, and make you awake when feel bored for a long trip, so far I run in my iphone 4s and ipad1(take a lot memory) without any problem, not sure it might got problem with other phones, please let me know if any one get memory errors!

Dem files with up to 1.5 arc seconds resolution can be downloaded free from the official US servers ;)
Same for many other parts of the world (3 arc seconds).

Is there something special about this "US-Canada 3D High Def DEM file" or is this the same as the Dem files that have been available for years?
Thanks

Age of the DEM file(s) mean little.
"High Definition" DEM files can have significantly greater detail (compare the file sizes for the same locations) at various zoom levels and resolution.
All at the cost of performance. On all but the highest power memory-rich GPS systems the performance degradation can be really really bad.
So you may see a pretty mountain in the distance as you miss your turn because the voice stuttered and the screen did not refresh fast enough.;)

It depends what you are looking for.
First, you must have a valid DEM file installed in the correct folder, then go to Settings>Map Settings>
Relief (toggle on/off).

Hi thank you so much for your reply. The relief button is on and the dem files are in the content folder under the sub folder titled dem.I've downloaded US and Canada 3d dem files.
I did notice a slight change in topography when the relief is toggled off but not a huge difference. Maybe because I'm around very flat land.
Thanks again
Sudip

"Flat land" will show little/nothing. DEM files are mostly for mountains, valleys, large bodies of water, etc.
If it's toggled on, it's working.
