Try the HD files, if something goes wrong, you have the original to go back.
Please keep us updated, so we know if it works.
Which DEM file for North America (USA) is the HD?
There's also a US Premium file.
This is what I currently have in my dem folder
NA.USA.dem
NorthAmerica.dem
UnitedStates.dem
US.dem.z01
US.dem.z02
US.dem.zo3
US.dem.z04
Which ones should I keep and/or delete and replace with the newer dems?

Copy and Back-up your current DEM folder then delete all the .dem files on your unit/SD card... Then if you're just using the GPS in the US. Use only the US Premium .dem in the DEM folder. If driving US and Canada put both the US and Canada Premium files in the .dem folder.
The Complete North american one i threw in as something else to try and haven't played around with yet and if you wish to try it, use just the North american NASA.dem. without the Canada or US premium .dem files,
The Premium NA file is the one that is around 177MB in size with NASA in the filename. Standard one is around 4MB in size

Ok, first saved my sd card completely and then deleted the whole dem folder and added the NorthAmerica_83.NASA.070919.dem
Will see how it looks tomorrow and report back.

Did the change last night.
It's working but haven't noticed any difference from my older dem.
But always thankful for an update.
So Thanks

I still have not used the large NA file. I started with the Canada and US premium ones. It eats a Half Gig of storage space but was a big improvement over the standard files I did have. Also the lower the angle you run the "camera" setting the more the terrain files pop out at you off the map. With the Canada and US files i also noticed a big improvement in overview terrain but it does take longer to load onto the screen.

Interesting.
I do run my software in 3D but not sure of the angle.

is there any chance someone might upload the link for current or fairly recent Canada Premium or Standard file again? Anything from 2012 forward would be appreciated. The links above are no longer on the server - no surprise there though as some significant time has passed :-)
