chinese xgody with primo , low bridge help please.

Postby glencarron » Wed Feb 03, 2016 3:59 pm

Hello,

I am an Hgv truck driver and have bought an xgody unit , I think it has primo installed.
I have set the unit to the truck setting with height , width etc but it is still taking me
under low bridges with no warning.

I would appreciate any help bearing in mind I am a complete beginner.

please if you can help explain things in "for dummies" language.

thanks in advance.

Do you have *.FTR files in the /content/map folder?

Hi and thanks for your reply , I have looked in the content map folder and it appears all files are FBL or HNR

I would like the unit to warn me if I am approaching a low bridge.

The *.FTR files contain the truck restrictions, without them you will not be warned of low bridges etc.

Download a new mapset that contains them for the regions you need.

As an absolute minimum for truck routing you will need .FBL (maps) .FTR (Truck restrictions) in the map folder and optional .POI (Points of interest) files in the poi folder.

One file of each type for every region.

You don't really need the other files for basic routing but they give enhanced visuals and warnings which you may want.

Pick you maps from here... maps-buildings-dem-poi-f82/

The vast majority go in the map folder except .poi's go in the poi folder, .3dc/l's go in the building folder and .ph go in the phoneme folder.

Full details here... how-to-f128/igo-primo-enhancements-t3538.html

It's best practice to only put one map in for the first run, then exit properly through the menu. Then load up with everything else.

also may I ask what is the best way to back up my device ?

I am using windows 8.

Without knowing which regions you require I linked you to the map sub forum, choose which regions you want then download them.

To backup depends on how your device connects to the PC...

If it connects as a mass storage device then just copy everything to a folder on your PC, don't forget to turn on "Show hidden files/folders" and turn off "Hide protected system files" first.

If it connects via Windows Mobile Device Centre then try as above bit WMDC is a pain for backing up devices, you might have more luck running Total Commander on the device and copying to an SD card directly on the device itself.

You won't be able to backup the system.

There are a couple of Europe torrents/magnets in the map sub forum, these allow you to select which files to download so you don't have to download several gigabytes of data.
The jury's still out on which is best between TomTom (for iGO) and Here mapsets, so try both, but not at the same time obviously.

Your device connects as a mass storage device, so turn on show hidden files and turn off hide protected system files, then copy everything in drive D: to a folder on your PC somewhere safe.

Hi and thanks for help offered upto now. I am in the U.K.

please bear in mind as a humble truck driver I have very little knowledge of this stuff.

I have two sat navs and at present I am trying to get my older model to tell me when I am approaching a low bridge
the reason I am trying the older model first is in case I mess things up.

I have copied all files to my pc including hidden files.

however all links I click on for new maps say file deleted. can someone give me a current link to uk maps
with truck restrictions ftr's

Use the magnet link in post 3...

maps-buildings-dem-poi-f82/europe-here-2015-t18034.html

You copy and paste the whole link into your torrent client, if you don't have a torrent client use this...
