Mon Jul 15, 2013 1:55 pm

I have just bought a Parrot smart which has an odd version of IGO installed(not sure what)The content is on the SD card but the program files are on the built in flash which i think is not accesible.I have been trying to side load a version of primo which i got off here and is running fine on my other android devices. For some reason when i try to run the apk file i am asked do i want to replace the installed version of igo?I press yes but then get a further message, not installed!!Any ideas anyone please?

Is this a phone program or a PNA?

The reason why you get the "not installed" error is because the original install is signed, the new apk isn't. In this situation you should uninstall the original version first.

It's a PNA.I have managed to install co pilot apk and that went ok but IGO won't install.I thin its something to do with parrot installing a tailored version onto the unit and it won't let me install over it.Wondered if I tried to install primo instead of Igo would do it but don't know where to start.

I don't know this device, but are you able to access the underlying android system and perform 'uninstalls'?

On Android if the internal package name (com.xxx.xxx) of the original app matches the new app, they must have the same signature, otherwise the install fails, obviously in this case the pre-installed version of iGO was signed by the developer before installation, this signature is unique.

To get round this, uninstall the original app first.

Maybe I'm missing something but why would you have to install an apk on a WinCE PNA? It's not necessary. An Android phone yes.

Sorry it's an asteroid system which is an off shoot of Android.I need an android version of primo but because the parrot comes with a cut down version pre installed,I can't get it to install. Thanks for your help, would really love to get it sorted if possible

Unless you can uninstall the original iGO, you won't be able to install the new version.

Is that possible?Any ideas anyone please?

There are apps that can uninstall stuff, es file explorer is one, you might need to be root though.

That sounds a bit technical, and a good chance of bricking the unit altogether?

I would look into gaining root, or perhaps it's possible to uninstall over adb?

I don't know.

I should think that you should be looking in the Android phone section here rather than the iGO section since your device is thus. Also, because of what you've been saying is why it is recommended to use the SD card rather than the internal disk. The correct path to the program is what becomes paramount.
