Cursor movement in Tunnels.

Cursor movement in Tunnels.

Postby bazzle » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:23 am

Seems to have a mind of its own.
Sometimes moves thru tunnel, other times stops and resumes at end of tunnel.

Any clues?

That's relatively normal.
In a tunnel, if the GPS signal is lost, your movement can no longer be tracked and the map may stop as a result, then pick up when the satellites reconnect.
If the tunnel is short (or you are moving pretty fast), the signal may not be lost for more than x seconds, and so it may still be able to approximate accurate movement.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Hmm... actually Other IGIO's and Primo 1.2 Ove used continue on the path (like when you do a simulate trip).
Im guessing its normally clever enogh to keep you on track at the posted speed.
One tunnel it is OK and is about 3k long, No signal after about 200meteres. Another Tunnel about the same length just stops.

Ive been searching etc but no clues yet, I will..... find a cure

Actually, I don't see what the problem is. As long as the program quickly resumes navigating when you exit the tunnel, what more would you like. It's not as if you can go anywhere different when you're in a tunnel. Remember, the device has to have a view of the satellites.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Ahh its just one of those things, some of our tunnels have speedcams etc in them.
In the car I tend to like the notifications of what is coming up if only on the screen.
When you exit it can take a 20 secs or so to re-establish.
That is a long distance when driving.
I like the 'intelligent' simulation until sats re-established.

IGO8.3.5 is OK but I have grown to like P2

I think Im getting too hooked on the GPS :chok_mini:

It can't possibly be an intelligent simulation as it has no idea of your speed. It can assume your last speed but if you speed up or slow down for traffic or other consideration your simulation is not worth much. The best solution is a Radar/laser detector if your concern is sufficient or timely warning. Of course if in Europe, it needs to be mounted discreetly...
