Custom POI Not showing on Primo 2.4

Custom POI Not showing on Primo 2.4

Postby tworivers » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:19 am

I have read a lot of threads on hear and the tutorials but I still can't get my custom KML files to show.

I have placed then in Primo/content/poi ( doesn't work) and primo content/userdata/poi and that doesn't work either.the files are .kml .

when I switch on the unit Binatone f430 load primo go to search they don't show, when I go back into the sd card and the folder containing the poi, the unit seems to have created extra files: .kix and .knl

I have the lastest maps?United_Kingdom_83_NQ_2012.Q4_130216

I also have United_Kingdom_83_TA_Premium_2010.09_101021 which is placed in primo/content/poi and that works fine.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section but I couldn't find post new thread in the poi section.

anyone tell me what I am doing wrong

They don't show because your POI are not catagorized and no icon is "attached"

The creation of the files .kix and .knl is correct.
If you did not include any custom-icon in the kml-file, Primo will use the default kmlpoi.icon in Data.zip (ui_igo9\icons\poi\kmlpoi.icon).

If you select More-->Settings-->Map Settings-->Place Markers, you will find your poi in the list (with the default icon).

If you want to have your own icon you have to modify the kml-file.

The structure of the kml-file (in content\userdata\poi) looks as follows (open with e.g. Wordpad):

Take as an example the custom-Poi called Parkings - Free, with the kml-file in content\userdata\poi and the icon Parkings - Free.bmp in folder content\userdata\usericon

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<kml xmlns="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2">
<Document><name>Parkings - Free</name>

<metadata><igoicon><filename>content\userdata\POI\Parkings - Free.bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>

<Placemark>
<name>Parkings - Free</name>
<description>Name of parking place,adres</description>
<Point>
<coordinates>8.76005,52.07122,0</coordinates>
</Point>
</Placemark>
<Placemark>
<name>Parkings - Free</name>
<description>Name,adres</description>
<Point>
<coordinates>8.759560000000001,52.07128000000001,0</coordinates>
</Point>
</Placemark>
.
.
.
</Folder>
</Document>
</kml>

All free parking places are shown with the icon in folder content\userdata\usericon.
I do not know what type of user-poi you intend to use, but above may shine some light on this matter.

the files I have, are for campsites as follows:
archies_europe.bmp & archies_europe.kml. when I boot the system up it creates the files I have mention above.
Sorry I don't understand when you say they are not catagorized and no icon is "attached".
when I say they don't show up I mean I cant search for them.

What is the correct path for customised or extra poi? I read its is primo/content/poi for standard and primo/content/userdata/poi for extra poi's

any help would be appreciated.

The kml-file must be in folder content\userdata\poi and the corresponding icon in folder content\userdata\usericon, as mentioned earlier.

Please let us know what you see if you select More-->Settings-->Map Settings-->Place Markers?
Do you see the name of your poi (archies_europe) in the list (with the default icon)?
If you see the poi with the standard icon (globe as I remember) than you have to modify the kml file so as to point the system to the correct icon.

I got the message that you found and activated campings.

You now can select an icon by touching the button left from the kml-name.
You can see a selection of icons from which you can select one

I did not say "when you say bottom left from the kml where is that on the pc or the...", but:
You now can select an icon by touching the button left from the kml-name.
You can see a selection of icons from which you can select one

After you select More-->Settings-->Map Settings-->Place Markers and when you press the button with the wrech/screwdriver you can select o.a. an icon as explained

sorry I wrote that wrong. I meant to say when you say bottom left of the kml name. Were is the the bottom left of the klm is it on the pc or is it on the satnav.

I have tried on the sat nav like you say but I must be mssing some thing this is what I have done.
1) from the main screen.2
2) spanner screwdriver icon
3)map settings.
4)place markers
5) Archies campings (KML)
But there is nothing to let me choose an icon only a option to select or deselect archies.
If I press more from there I just get the options to save or reset to defaults.

I am probably missing something simple sorry

Sorry, with the standard skin (data.zip), there is no option for changing the icon.

As I never work only with the standard skin but with an extra skin (in folder content/skin).

I recommend the following:
1. Download diMka WA P.1.7.1
2. Place that skin in in folder content/skin
3. Select the skin via More..>Settings->Display.--> Select skin diMka WA P.1.7.1 for both day and night.
4. Restart the navi and now you can select the icons as described.
The available selection of icons depends on branding.zip and data.zip

Note:
As I do not know the resolution of your navi, the Dimka skin might not have the required resolution. Check this first
