difficulty with mapchanger in primo 2

Postby victor42 » Sun May 20, 2012 5:46 pm

hi all,i have just finished up-dating to primo 2,all working fine(thanks to you guys),all except mapchanger.when trying to switch maps an error message from wince appears,something along the lines of 'path not found' had it written down but misplaced it.i have navteq and teleatlas installed they are in the same folder in content/maps,now i'm thinking this is the issue but not too sure.i've read somethings in the forum but am unsure which may apply.any pointers to a solution greatly welcomed.hope this is in the correct thread.many thanks.

There should be 3 mapfolders, to separate the maps by maker:

map_ta ==> "TeleAtlas", now "TomTom-TeleAtlas" (or map_tt)
map_nt ==> "Navteq"
map_ot ==> "Other maps", thus the "local providers" (Eastern Europe)

Then in sys.txt:

[mapswitch]
1=",map_ta,\Storage Card\Primo,"
2=",map_nt,\Storage Card\Primo,"
3=",map_ot,\Storage Card\Primo,"

I do not have to say the path "Storage card\Primo" should be correct as needed for your device.
Also check the file "utility.config" (it's in the folder "utility" that these references are correct:

[general]
DirContent=\Storage Card\Primo\content
DirSave=\Storage Card\Primo\save
ExeName=Primo.exe

"Correct" here means "correct for your device settings and paths" ! The storage card can be called sdmmc or your content is on flashdisk, or ...

The MapChanger button can be displayed in the main menu, by analogy with "Exit" button, change sys.txt:

[Interface]
show_mapchanger = 1

When all is well, a script starts when changing the mapset; example from Navteq to Teleatlas, the "Map" is renamed to "Map_nt" (first), then the "Map_ta" is renamed to "Map", and iGO/Primo restarts with the new mapset.

Hi,

They need to be in different folders, such as map_tt (for Tomtom or Teleatlas),.

I also have Navteq and Tomtom maps, and have navteq in map, and tomtom in map_tt. You will need to make a text file to go in each map folder. in the navteq map folder, just name it map_nt.txt, and in the tomtom folder it would be map_tt.txt.

More details in the first post here http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?953-EUROPE-Maps-buildings-dem-poi-for-iGO-and-MioMap

Hope this helps.
