Does TTS replace beeps? Speed Cameras

Postby danovo » Thu Jan 12, 2012 5:01 pm

Hello All

First post here :)

Does the TTS feature replace the annoying beeps with words? I want to be warned about speed cameras but not constantly every 2 seconds until im at the speed camera.

Hope this is understandable.

Thanks

Dan.

On Primo 1.2 and above TTS Pro gives a voice warning which says "In 500 yards, Speed camera, 30 miles per hour", iGO 8 can have a similar effect with a suitable skin and the speed camera voice pack.

If you don't like to hear beeps then you have to put the following into sys.txt, this file is in the root of your Primo:

[warning]
approach_beep_spoken_type=none

but if you approach a proximate alert and your speed is more than the speed-limit then TTS will announce you the proximate alert (such as a speedcamera).

Futhermore if you like to disable all the beeps even than your speed is more than the speed limit then you must put the following into sys.txt:

[warning]
overspeed_sound=0

Hi,

To complete this post, I would like to know if it's possible to have TTS voice + Beeps at speedcam approach?

To be clear :

- If I choose a Non-TTS voice and if I mute the voice guidance (but not the alerts), I have beeps at speedcam approach.

- If I choose a TTS voice and if I mute the voice guidance (but not the alerts), I don't have nothing at speedcam approach (neither beep, nor TTS announce)

Thx

Depending on which version of Primo you are using, some skins (such as diMka) provide a little bit more 'fine tuning' of TTS choices.
Such as to not use TTS for alerts, which would then allow you to use the other alarm sounds of your choice, but still maintain TTS for driving instructions, etc.
But once you choose TTS for the alerts, that's it; you can't have it both ways.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I tried both Primo 1.2 and 2.0.
Is this option available without a skin, by sys.txt conf. for example?

You can have 'beeps' for exceeding the speed limit while approaching the camera with TTS Pro voice announcements, Alert Point Settings -> Warn When Speeding, the default is +20MPH over the camera speed limit, but this can be changed to a negative value, ie, -20MPH, Unfortunately there is no global settings, so you would need to do this for each type of camera/alert point.

I have this setup myself, and it works, Primo 2.0 + Dimka 1.5.1
Currently sleeping...
