Embedded data anomaly Oz R18

Thu Apr 28, 2011 8:49 pm

Heres one I cant work out.
If I use an SD or SDHC card iGO8.3.4 and Oz map R18 I get embedded map alerts like school crossings :)
If I put exact copy on an Micro sd card the embedded school crossings do not show.

Got me foxxed as I use the Micro card in Cazzles car and the SD size in mine.
(Even when I use an SD adaptor for the Micro SD in my car still no :( )

Hi Buddy,
You've been doing this for some time now and I imagine that you've run across this before. Unfortunately, not all SD cards are the same - why, I don't know the answer. As you know, some work with a device while the same ones will not work with another device. This has been discussed before on the old forum. Adapters for SD cards can cause mis-information being transmitted. Basically, it comes down to trial and error. I know this is the short answer but it's the best one I have right now.

Strange, because iGO is sold on micro sd (plus 3in1 adapter): [Please Register or Login to download file]

We have had members reporting troubles when using sd adapters, other having no troubles, so I (we) assumed the adapter was the cause.
I have never (or do not remember) read about any issues using micro sd.

Could it be he way the micro sd is formatted? Is it the same map? The same size? (exclude faults)
Could it be the micro sd is too slow to pass all data, maybe?

The host system will see no difference between a full size sd card and a micro sd card in an adaptor, but technically they are different, For example micro sd's use a lot less power, data transfer rates will be different and if the micro sd card moves slightly in the adaptor, electrical noise (data corruption) will be created, Plus trying to remove a broken adaptor from a device is not funny! As a rule i use full size cards only. :)

Thanks chaps.

Yes I do understand diff between cards etc.
Funny thing is it still wont show that embedded data when used whithout an adaptor.

Never mind.

Ill keep ""experimenting"" with diff brand cards etc just so Cazzle can see all the data.
