Hello All,

I have been browsing this site now for weeks however I am having major issues trying to get my satnav to work in general.

I have a Viamichelin x950 WinCE 4.2 and i have been trying to add IGO Primo 1.2 I keep on getting error codes.

I have also tried to add IGO 2.0 however I get no signal and my GPS signal doesnt seem to be picked up.

I have tried to tweek the sys.txt however that doesnt seem to work. I also get error messages about memory etc.

I need urgent help please as I am leaving the UK tomorrow for Germany and I desperately need the satnav to work otherwise I am lost.

Thank you all in advance!!

Forget Primo. You want iGO8. Look here http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8242-need-to-install-igo-on-via-michelin-x950t&highlight=Viamichelin

Hello,

Thank you for that one.

I have now tried IGO 8 however I got an error message which is advising that my memory is low. This is crazy because there is hardly anything on the SD card, more than 1gb free memory on my 2gb card.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much for your response

You are confusing Storage Space on your SD Card (which is a type of flash memory strictly for storing programs), and RAM Memory (a chunk of internal memory available only to the OS to use for running itself and any programs). Your device has only 32 MB of RAM, so you will be a bit limited on what you can run, the features of programs you enable, number of maps and additional feature files in your navigation program, etc. OR you will get memory errors and freezes quite often.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

My Port is at 1 and the Baud Rate is at 4800 I was not aware that I needed to change anything.

What should it be set to?

But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Laurasmith,

If you have IGO8 just remove/remark these lines from your sys.txt, go to settings and let the unit auto detect the GPS hardware settings.

Once you get this working you can write down the port and
rewrite/unmark the lines after editing with the correct data to be used on Primo or any other application.

Your hardware settings will be the same for any navigation
application you choose.

As for using IGO8 vs PRIMO - I'd take Chas521's recommendation and check it out. He knows what he's talking about.

Good Luck,
Danny

Hey Dannyu,

Thanks very much for that. I have tried the auto detact settings still no joy,

I will double check the post you suggested and maybe I will be able to get it sorted.

Thanks very much all for your input.

@laurasmith

Because your device only has 32MB RAM you cannot have TTS, only non-TTS voices. Therefore, from my iGO8 program that you downloaded you can delete the entire TTS_LOQ folder plus the four .dlls required for voice TTS from the iGO8 folder. Also, you can delete the TTS voices from content\voice. BTW, what's the latest with the satellite problem? If you have ANY questions, just ask here!

EDIT: Just know that the first time your device tries to find the satellites, it can take as long as 30 minutes. ALWAYS keep stationary and have a clear view of the sky - NO obstructions.

You need to try them quite hard!
In my experience, once you have the settings correct (which may mean not specifying the com port at all if you are not sure, don't tell it), you may need to leave the device switched on with a clear view of the sky, for as long as an hour before you can be sure whether or not it has worked.
I've no idea why it should take that long, but it is worth a try!
