Help: IGO Primo on 2din Flyaudio 7500 series device

Postby ornithology » Thu Feb 16, 2012 7:49 am

First of all let me just say thank you SO MUCH for this site. It has been extremely helpful and it is the best resource I've found for GPS information.

I own a Flyaudio DVD/GPS/all in one unit.
I believe it runs on Windows CE 5.0.
I have the IGO program writtein on a 2GB Kingston MicroSD.

I followed the guide from here and downloaded the recommended files: http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?3521-Guide-to-install-iGO-Primo-on-devices-with-Windows-CE-core.

I also downloaded a map pack of US/CAN and pasted the .fbl file in the maps folder.

I loaded up the program in my car under a clear sky and everything booted up accordingly. HOWEVER, here's where my questions come:

1) I realized the graphics are laggy/choppy. They do not flow as they would on a GPS unit.
2) I CANNOT LOCK-ON TO A SATELLITE! I had the Odyssey program prior to this and it worked perfectly and was able to lock on to 10/12 satellites. The IGO program cannot lock on at all?
3) The music in the background changes volume when I select buttons while in the IGO program.

I'd appreciate some advice and support on what I should do. I've read many threads already including the tutorials but I feel really lost at this point.

Thanks in advance!
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

1. While the graphics might be choppy, how does the nav program work overall? It sounds like you're experiencing some sort of memory problem. The usual culprit is too much content being asked or too much content loading at the beginning. If it were my device, I would start reducing the amount of content. Some things might be: too large an area of speedcams, .dem files or building files [these really aren't necessary for the program to operate but are only eye-candy], too many maps, etc.

2. You probably have to go into the sys.txt and change the baud and port for your device.

3. You said you've tried many things so I don't know. It may be a hardware failure.

@ornithology

Question 3 first. It's the other way around. Igo8 is somewhat faster.

1. Tell me about your GPS device. How much memory does it have? You may have mentioned it already earlier but I don't have access to those posts right now. NO, there is no mapsource thing like TT. The maps are .fbl and you should only use what you need.

I run a 2DIN Chinese OEM NAV Replacement all-in-one.
Windows CE5.0 1400
ARM920T S3C2440A (66MHZ)
800x480
43.7MB RAM
38.2MB Program Memory
5.46MB Storage Memory
GPS- PORT COM6//BAUDRATE 4800// PROTOCOL:NMEA

I'm running Igo Primo right now, but I want to use the most simplest, fastest one with just small maps for the regions that I need. I'm going to remove all speedcams, .dem, buildings, and unnecessary maps. Which version of Igo will suit my needs as I'm struggling to find appropriate versions.

I've tried the Garmin as well only to find it super glitchy. However, I loved how Mapsource was able to "cut up" my maps into smaller regions so i can upload only the ones I needed. I also liked how it ran really fast and calculated my routes in about 5-10 seconds. I also like the basic style graphics with clear color coding.

I love my Igo Primo too, but it just takes too long to load the routes and also it is very choppy when I'm driving with it (the refresh seems slow). I would like to also install a skin that makes it a little more appealing.

Thanks Chas!

Edit 1: Wondering if there is a way to just edit/use maps of "WESTERN CANADA and USA"? The GPS is built into my car so I only need a map of where I can gain access to.

Edit 2: How do you mute the thing so when I press buttons it doesn't try to make the "doot" sound. I've disabled it in sounds but it isn't working. It's annoying because if I have music in the background, the "doot" isn't audible, but the music gets muffled and quieter.

OK, let me explain some things first. I asked about your memory because I wanted to get an idea of how much you could handle without getting an error message. If you want my advice, I would go with my iGO8 http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011 Personally, I have found it to be better than Primo but I said personally. Others will vehemently disagree.

As for Garmin, it's a nice program but I think for Garmin devices and not so much for WinCE. Same for TT. Remember, neither one has TTS.

No GPS nav is going to be fast. It's the satellites that give the directions and it does take "some" time to send/receive signals. You just to accept that.

1 - I can give you the map of Canada [I think I have it]. Just western is not available. As for states, any come to mind?

2 - Simple. I think that you mean the "ding" sound that comes as a warning before a verbal navigation.

Just add this to your sys.txt. Actually, I think it's already in my program that you downloaded

[sound]
ding=1 make it ding=0

If it's the click sound for the keys, in settings go to sound, take the check out of key sounds.

Chas thanks so much for the help. I'm installing the program now and trying out the skins.
I would appreciate the map of Canada if you have it. Would you happen to have a map that contains Western U.S. (WA, NEVADA, CALIFORNIA, PORTLAND) as well?
Is there a way I can edit the maps so I only use the Western side of Canada? I'm guessing the larger the file the more memory it can take up and slows down the unit?

There is no easy way to edit maps, no.

Not necessarily. Huge map files (or a lot of smaller maps files), may slow down the startup of a unit, but generally will not slow down navigation..unless you add a lot of other 'map detail' like DEM files, buildings, etc.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Curious, why is there two parts to DL when both files are identical? Am I missing the point here?

There IS a very good reason. A person is restricted to 250MB for each file uploaded when using mirrorcreator. Since the total file is more than 250MB it has to be at least two parts. NO! Both file parts are not the same. You must download both files to complete the entire file! Extract the first part and the second part automatically extracts.

I will make an upload of the maps you need. BTW, YT is exactly correct. The size of anything usually does not affect navigation but it can cause an error message when you start the program. You don't need .dem files, building files. There will be no problem with the speedcam files I gave you. FYI, my C320 is 64 MB RAM.

Sorry but I don't have the POIs for the West, only the East. Maps go into content\map.

Hey Chas,
I'm trying to extract and install the software but I don't understand what you mean that the second part automatically extracts. I extract the first one and it says:

! C:\Documents and Settings\Igo8\Household_Hints.part1.rar: CRC failed in iGO8\tts_loq\EnglishGB\Kate\Kate-32800.16000.loqmsx.bin. The file is corrupt

So I have some news.

#1 The Part 1 when downloaded from Directupload (mirror) actually is a larger file and is NOT a duplicate, whereas when downloaded from rapidshare, it is the same file. Don't know how this happened.

#2 Although I downloaded both and have copied onto the card, program will not run. It says "Program Database application cannot be found".

Should this be plug and play? Or is there something I need to modify?
