Question 3 first. It's the other way around. Igo8 is somewhat faster.
1. Tell me about your GPS device. How much memory does it have? You may have mentioned it already earlier but I don't have access to those posts right now. NO, there is no mapsource thing like TT. The maps are .fbl and you should only use what you need.

43.7MB RAM
38.2MB Program Memory
5.46MB Storage Memory
GPS- PORT COM6//BAUDRATE 4800// PROTOCOL:NMEA
I'm running Igo Primo right now, but I want to use the most simplest, fastest one with just small maps for the regions that I need. I'm going to remove all speedcams, .dem, buildings, and unnecessary maps. Which version of Igo will suit my needs as I'm struggling to find appropriate versions.
I've tried the Garmin as well only to find it super glitchy. However, I loved how Mapsource was able to "cut up" my maps into smaller regions so i can upload only the ones I needed. I also liked how it ran really fast and calculated my routes in about 5-10 seconds. I also like the basic style graphics with clear color coding.
I love my Igo Primo too, but it just takes too long to load the routes and also it is very choppy when I'm driving with it (the refresh seems slow). I would like to also install a skin that makes it a little more appealing.
Thanks Chas!

Edit 1: Wondering if there is a way to just edit/use maps of "WESTERN CANADA and USA"? The GPS is built into my car so I only need a map of where I can gain access to.
Edit 2: How do you mute the thing so when I press buttons it doesn't try to make the "doot" sound. I've disabled it in sounds but it isn't working. It's annoying because if I have music in the background, the "doot" isn't audible, but the music gets muffled and quieter.

chas521 wrote:OK, let me explain some things first. I asked about your memory because I wanted to get an idea of how much you could handle without getting an error message. If you want my advice, I would go with my iGO8 http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011 Personally, I have found it to be better than Primo but I said personally. Others will vehemently disagree.
As for Garmin, it's a nice program but I think for Garmin devices and not so much for WinCE. Same for TT. Remember, neither one has TTS.
No GPS nav is going to be fast. It's the satellites that give the directions and it does take "some" time to send/receive signals. You just to accept that.

chas521 wrote:There IS a very good reason. A person is restricted to 250MB for each file uploaded when using mirrorcreator. Since the total file is more than 250MB it has to be at least two parts. NO! Both file parts are not the same. You must download both files to complete the entire file! Extract the first part and the second part automatically extracts.
I will make an upload of the maps you need. BTW, YT is exactly correct. The size of anything usually does not affect navigation but it can cause an error message when you start the program. You don't need .dem files, building files. There will be no problem with the speedcam files I gave you. FYI, my C320 is 64 MB RAM.
