Help requested for iGO 8.3.4 on HTC HD2

Fri Oct 15, 2010 10:21 am

Hello,

I am running iGO 8.3.4.142975 on a HTC HD2.
I have 2 annoying issues that I don't know how to get rid of, I'll appreciate any help:

1. I accidentally installed several versions of the same .poi file and now I have a lot of POI's duplicates (even tri-plicates :) ). I know that with iGO 2006 you could edit the iGO database file, igo.db, to remove the duplicates, but for the love of God, I cannot find this file with this release.
Have the things changed in 8.3.4? How do i remove the duplicates then?

2. Some settings are not saved and every time I launch iGO I have to remember to manually re-apply those settings. For instance:
- I always have to enable Settings->Navigation->Overview Mode
- I always have to adjust the values for the speeding limits in Settings->Warnings->Warn when speeding
- I always have to enable the building rendering distance in Settings->Map Visual->3D Settings
How can I make sure these settings are saved once for all?

Thank you for your assistance.

1. Just delete the POI file you don't need/want.
2. Is your (micro)sd write protected? Disable the protection.

Ty for the suggestions.

1. But aren't the poi's already imported in iGO's database? In iGO 2006 all the poi's arrived in the ido.db database, so removing the .poi files will not help. I mean, I'd remove the unwanted .poi files and still have duplicates because they're already in the database.
2. The SD card is NOT write protected, I just tried it. I think it must be some crazy config that I'm missing (or having a wrong value)

What database? IGO8 is completely different from iGO 2006.
That you still have to do the settings means there is no save folder. Or the save folder is write protected (if it is not the sd itself).
Check that and correct if needed.
If that is no solution, I wonder 2 things: (1) where you got your copy of iGO8? (2) what is in your sys.txt?

I've had problems with settings reverting to default in the past, I think something in the save folder gets corrupted and therefore some settings can't be saved, Deleteing the save folder and starting again fixed it for me.
