Where did you get the TA maps? Both TA and Navteq should work. Get maps here http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?2810-iGO8-R3-v8.3-8.4-8.5-Latest-Europe-Maps after "or" [near bottom] in first post. What do you see in settings/about/content?

Maps from simplesatnav but will now get from your link.

Sorry dont have a settings/about/content (Igo8? did have in Primo) now showing basemap and nt UK & Ireland.

Had a look at 8 and yes looks fine. Only comment and its personnal would prefer icon for petrol poi to be a bit smaller but guess I can play later.

Having a prob with adrive at moment so will try to sort link and will send you both together. Just realised I have f****d up again will upload the correct file :smilie_a_003::smilie_a_003::

Do you use speedcam in NY if so and you wish can send you a uptodate kml but all in one category.

First of all, thanks for the uploads. I am putting them in the sub-forum with credit to you. Now, how about the TA maps? Are they working? Are you ready for more information concerning the POIs? Go to the menu in iGO, manage, POI, sub-sections will appear, [let's use McDonald's as an example], in restaurant sub-section go to fast food, scroll down to McDonald's, choose edit, at bottom of page is the blue icon, press it and 4 pages of new icons will appear, choose the one for McDonald's and the icon will now appear on your map. At the McDonald's edit page, choose "medium" for when you see the restaurant on the map.

Keith,
Are you offering? LOL. All kidding aside, this is what I [we] do here. All the moderators to the different sections are excellent in their sections or else they wouldn't have been chosen in the first place. I'm not saying we know everything [that would be impossible]; that's when our terrific members post here with help. We're all like one big family relying on each other to pave the way. I'm proud to be a member of navitotal.com because we're the best and I'm not just saying that because I'm already here. I hope not, but if you have any questions or problems you know where to ask.

Sorry but I'm back again.

Thanks to Chas521 I now have many icons but 2 questions please.

1.
Poi edit as some 2600+ icons of which 700ish are in poi_mapclose so what points to the other bmp's to get the icons showing

2.
I have found that field three in user.upoi is the field which holds the bmp name for the poi so where are the bmp's for this stored (userdata - usericon perhaps) ?

Sorry folks back again.

Thanks to Chas521 for his help in getting icons to show but this leaves me with 2 questions.

1. I can now see some 2600+ icons in manage poi but most of the icons are in poi_mapclose (some 6-700). So where do the others come fromand where is the pointer to them?

2. I have found that field 3 in user.upoi can containg the bmp name for the poi icon. Where are these stored? (userdata - usericon perhaps? )

@kaybee327

Keith, this is what happened to my device when I installed the ui_igo8 folder in place of the first folder. All the icons that I "turned on" in manage automatically showed up on the map. I didn't have to change the default icon for this to happen. If this works for you as it did for me, then you don't have to concern yourself as to where the others are.

Yes Chas I got the icons ok but it was a matter of where they were if I wanted to add some of my own poi and icons.

For example I would assume I would need an entry in the .ui file and also create an spr file in which the numbers in lines 2 and 3 refer to the number of the icon in a multistrip.

I would have thought that the icons [almost 2700] would cover everything that you need. Do you mean there is something left out of it that you desparately need? Why not just set that up as a favorite in the program? When I say "If it ain't broke don't fix it", it doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't upgrade or update, it means that you shouldn't mess with parts of a working program trying to change code. You just might brick your device in the attempt. Sometimes it's best to leave well-enough alone. That's my advice and I'm sticking to it!

OK Chas you win - will leave alone.

Yes plenty icons to choose from but most of them seem to be mainly USA/Canada oriented. So was going to try to put together a strip with UK icons but guess someone else can may offer to do it (cheeky hint hint)

Anyway thanks for your help, advise and patience
