How to disable unwanted features in Primo 2+ (and how to opt

Mon Mar 11, 2013 7:25 am

Is there a way (through sys.txt or or some other means) to explicitly disable features like TMC, TTS and Naviextras?

I want to be sure that my devices (PNA and Android phone) will not try to contact/connect to naviextras, NNG or any other online site (for naviextras and TMC features).
Additionally, I would like to disable TTS as I do not need it.

Is there anything you would suggest to turn-off/fine tune to lower the resource requirements?

BTW, what are maximum memory and cache parameters used for? Do they represent the amount of RAM or disk space?

Thanks a lot in advance for your involvement in this thread!

These the following steps to disable the unwanted features:

-Disable TTS-->Select More->Settings->Sound and Warnings->Voice Language->Select a non TTS voice (natural Voice)
Remove in sys.txt all lines under [tts]. Is not really necessary
-Disable TMC-->Select More->Settings->Traffic->Uncheck Traffic Receiver
Remove in sys.txt all lines under [tmc]. Is not really necessary
-Disable Naviextras--> Add to sys.txt:
[network]
available="0"

Your remarks concerning the memory are quite general. Do you experience memory problems?
-TTS uses up a lot of memory.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I have a device with 128MB of memory, so I'm trying to optimize Primo as much as possible. Animation of the maps and menus on this device can be considered a somewhat choppy.

On the other hand I would like to make sure that on my android based phone no connection will be attempted to any server.

Generally, there is a kind of a lack of up-to-date sys.txt (or other relevant) configuration mechanism details on the internet. Also the quality of available information is not so great and it is not easy to check the correctness of it.

Remove dem's (.dem) and buildings (.3dc, .3dl) from content, they're not really needed for navigation but just eye-candy, they use a lot of memory and resources (cpu) for graphics rendering.

Remove TTS voices in content folder.
In root, remove gpstmc.dll, vautov5.dll, vocon***.dll, tts*** folder, loq***.dll
