How go I get voice recognition to work with Primo 9.6.13.x?

Postby OldandLost » Tue Aug 27, 2013 1:25 am

I'm completely new to Primo (I'd never heard about it until I got my new WinCE unit from China the other day), and I can't get voice recognition to work. In fact I don't even see the icon for it that's supposed to be there. I know I need to have a TTS voice enabled (I do), but I'm not sure what else I need or where to get it. I've done a bunch of Google searches, and all I've seen is that I need "Vocon and other archives and DLLs". That would be helpful if I knew what Vocon was, and what other archives and DLLs I need. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to NaviTotal.
I'm not sure about voice recognition, but you can start your way about TTS is this section of the forum:
http://www.navitotal.com/forumdisplay.php?84-Languages-voices-speedcams

Start by reading the red highlighted threads at the top. In this threads there are instructions and links to what you need.

Feel free to come back to this thread to ask for help, if needed.

Thanks, but I already did those things. That's how I got the TTS voices.

What download did you get?
The third program down on this list says "Automatic Speech Recognition"

perhaps you need this version?

I posted the contents a while ago, but it said the post had to be approved by a moderator. Apparently that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for posting your sys.txt. Since you're kinda new to Primo, I wanted to make sure that you didn't have an entry shutting off the VR. You don't BTW. Next, I would ask you to post the files/folders names in the root of the Primo program folder. Also, take a look in the save folder, I think it's system config or something like that to perhaps see if there is an entry there shutting down your VR.

There is a system.ini file under save\profiles\01, but there is no mention of VR in it. Here is a screenshot of the root of my Primo directory.

Unless I'm mistaken, your Primo program is not from here. Where did you get it?

I did get it from here. I had to rename the folder and executable to get it to run on my system. I can't get into the WinCE settings to make it look anywhere else. I added the various vocon files from the older version of Primo that my system came with to see if they would help, but they didn't make any difference.

You might consider this version to replace your present version. However, before you do anything, back up your internal disk and the SD card.

I Installed the version that you recommended. The only things that I'm using that weren't in the torrent are the 2012 Q4 maps and POI, the DEM folder that I got somewhere, the Buildings folder from the version that came with my unit, and an updated speedcam.txt file. It boots up and works just fine, but I still don't have the AVR option.
