How do I know what resolution my device uses (and more)?

Postby filesupload100 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 9:53 am

Hi
How do I know what resolution my device uses?
I'm using a [Please Register or Login to download file] with wince6.0, 128m sdram.
It is running Igo 8.3.4.102680 and Igo Primo 9.2.1179499.

Second question is about the versions. I see aroud threads about Primo 2 (mine is 9.2..). What version category is the one I use? Can I upgrade to this "2" ver and it will work on my device? What about higher Igo version?

TIA

This little tool will tell you everything you need to know about your device...

Going by the specs you posted, primo 2 should work nicely, go to our iGO programmes section and download one of Yurbuh Tuggly's builds and replace your existing version, obviously backup first!

Thanks.
Now I'll have to ask how to run this little tool :)
Unrar, copy to a new folder on the device, and..? How to make it works?

I do like Igo8 more than Primo. Is there a Igo8 that will give more usability than the one I use?

Thanks again

Just to expand and clear a bit about versions, see Nabi's list here (it is often updated):
-iGO-8-Amigo-and-Primo-releases

Basically, (and it can be a little confusing), "9" started the Primo branch (after which further development of the iGo "8" versions ceased),
with 1.2 being pretty solid --AKA Primo 9.2.xxx After a long delay Primo "2.0" finally came to be with final versions in the 9.6.5.xxx range.
Now comes the latest (often referred to as Primo "2.4" which puts it in line numerically with the iPhone version)...9.6.13.xxx.
One could say that each subsequent version had increased demands on resources to utilize any of the newest features. In general, a device should have 128 MB Ram and a decent processor with at least 480x272 resolution to take advantage of the newest versions.
As FBF said, it appears your device is of this class, so feel free to give any a go that might be an upgrade from what you have. Always back up in case you don't like a newer version for any reason, and you can easily revert to what it was.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Update:
I used the "WINCE DEVICE INFORMATION V2" and got all the info I needed.
I've download and installed the "iGo Primo 2.0 Build 9.6.5.211211" and it's working on my device :). The only issue is that I get an error message on exit, but if this is the price of using it, it's ok.

Thanks for your help and keep up the good work.
Regards

That may be solvable too! But we need to know what the error is first.

Well, it happend only 1 time, on first operation.
After that, I added the buildings files and dem, deleted the extra voice and lang files and added mine, that was not included in the rar file (Voice_Hb-m1-lua.zip).
After this I turned in on and off a few times, including drive test and it never came back.

Thanks again and have a nice weekend

Ah..OK. Sometimes the very first Startup/Shutdown is a 'learning experience' for Primo, and often such problems disappear as the software settles in after a few cycles.
However, if it does come back, let us know and perhaps we can nail down the cause.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I must say that old version of Primo and Igo8 have the same issue.
What is the "Primo2.map/Primo.map/Igo.map" that the programs looking for?
Is there a way to prevent this "crash"?

Thanks

The crash.txt is generated every time, and is nothing to worry about, the primo2.map file is a developmental file.

If The programme runs ok and you can exit back to windows ce (or the launcher) without error or reboot then it's ok.

Yes, as I wrote, it is working fine, I just wonder if there is a way to prevent it or to find the missing file.
Thanks anyway.

Don't worry about the crash file. It happens mainly because you're using a cracked version. Will not affect usability.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.
