Icon Change

Postby JohannesJ » Sun Jun 16, 2013 8:38 am

The downloaded branding.zip is intended for iGO8 (ui_igo8), for Primo this should be (ui_igo9).
Why change branding.zip if your branding.zip already contains 760 icons?
Your problem is not the branding.zip but the visibility that of the user-poi icon on the screen.
Did you try to make a route to a user-poi? Can you select the poi?

because of the error that I was now getting, I delete the dam thing of the card and started yet again from new...! and yet its still not working right.
Yes I can visibility see them on the screen, and also navigate to them, its the icon that is wrong, like I said you can change the icon and see it at the bottom of the screen, but its the same old icon when you go back to the map, this is what I can't, don't understand.

If I put in my Coal Mine's poi which are google earth KML file's into my userdata/poi folder it also show's the same icon, it seems to me that this icon (and I would love to find out where it is) is set to default. PC will only show same of the BMP's and not all....which is a bit of a pain in the *&^%$££ is there any software that you boy's know of over the internet that will open all BMP's, Ive not manage to find one yet.

To uncompress (and compress) the bmp-files one can use:
iGOConvert.exe
rlec.exe

The icon kmlpoi.icon you can find in data.zip->ui_igo9->icons->poi

I have lot of mine .kml files (in userdata/poi folder) and each file have its own icon (in userdata/usericon folder).
In .kml file header in line (like in post #11)
<metadata><igoicon><filename>*.bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>
the .bmp filename is exactly the same name as corresponding filename in userdata/usericon folder.

He is using iGO8 NOT Primo. Look at post #1. Post #5 IS part of the sys.txt from iGO8 NOT Primo. Changes from ui_igo8 to ui_igo9 are incorrect in the advice. Plus he is looking for SPECIFIC icons.

I just did it with no problem. I used the branding.zip in post #14 and I was able to change the icon 100%. No error messages or anything like conflicts. My iGO8 started up with no problem. Did you make any changes in MY program that you downloaded? http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-16-2011

To chas521, the answer to your question is no, I did not, I don't have anything in folders, building, car, dem, and poi, I have only UK map in map folder and only UK speedcam in speedcam folder, and one voice in the voice folder and that is TTSKate which works well apart from the girl doesn't say the Welsh street names right, but that's OK with me. I would go back to Navman the mapping is good but are so out of date, and you don't have the 6 number postcodes. I would go back to TomTom the postcodes are good, but the maps are *&^% Igo is the best of the three that I have, if I can get the right icon to show.
question is why have so many icons in the menu if you can't change them.

OK, so you didn't change anything in the main program. What about the sys.txt? Other than your particular device did you add/change any lines different than what I had?

I have the exact program on my device that you do. I deleted my branding.zip and copy/pasted the branding.zip from the download in this thread and it worked perfectly. There were NO error messages and I was able to change the icon[s] through manage pois.

Do not just overwrite your branding.zip with the new one. Completely delete [back it up first] and copy/paste the new one. Shutdown your device, wait a few seconds and re-start.

Your sys.txt looks good if I might say so myself LOL. Do what I told you above about not overwriting but deleting and copy/paste. Then let us know.

FFUI error is a data.zip error. I know you said you didn't but did you change anything in my data.zip? Make sure that your resolution is contained in the data.zip and the branding.zip. Try downloading the branding.zip again.

So now delete the new one again, and copy old one back in and I don't get the error message and the nav works, maybe its time to call it a day...!

Just saw you reply, yes I did download it again, its still coming up with error, will now look into data.zip like you said.
