The fix we know for the PLF issue was a new version released that did not have that problem. Most igo 8.3 versions looks the same anyway (UI wise). So you can try a newer igo 8.3.5 (iGO 8.3.5.183522) version here (only if you want to):

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread....-March-16-2011

There were also some discussions about PLF that it may due to a bug on the data.zip. You can also try the data.zip from iGO 8.3.5.183522 and replace the data.zip on your installation. Save the you original data.zip so you can still go back to it if the data.zip for iGO 8.3.5.183522 does not work out on yours. I am almost sure that you would not notice any difference between your current igo and iGO 8.3.5.183522.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate your time. I will consider this info.

Anyway, I did not say "you MUST do this", did I?

Of course, you can always wait and see IF NavNGo (naviextras) gives you a satisfying answer. That you do not get program updates, only map updates, don't tell you anything about their support? Oh they know about the parking lot freeze. They do. Since years.

But IF, they can tell you to disable "Lock Position On Road", they can tell you to update - the latter would solve more than only the PLF. Remember, on the Airis, 8.3.5.151770 was introduced in July 2011, almost 2 years ago. Since, there were some updates of the program. Why ever would that be ?? And why do you believe that an update looks or handles different? Thus when you would buy a new iGO, what iGO would you be buying? A new one? Or the same old one with the very same PLF issue? Since it's 2 years old ... I don't think so.

Next, NavNGo only sells its software to hardware manufacturers. Thus you have to buy a new device. Unless you could dig up an iGO build somewhere on eBay or so. But if that one is legal??? And will you get support?

I appreciate your trying to help but I don't understand why you seem upset with me because I want to try and fix and just use the version I have? You have made your suggestions on what you think I should do and I appreciate it. I will consider them along with the other suggestions but I was hoping to fix what I have. I wasn't looking to use software from someone else( i.e. illegal copy ). I guess there is nothing I can do to fix this but I didn't know that without asking.

Just FYI when I updated my IGO software on Naviextras there were 2 software updates done to it along with the map updates. I didn't write them down or think to look too closely at what they were just that it said 2 software updates available in the list of things it showed before I started. Apparantly they do more than just Maps, POI's, etc...?

I can say after I updated it 2/3 of the issues went away so either there were those 2 software updates( and I am wasn't seeing things )and more than just Maps and POI's were updated or the Maps and POI's were part of the problem somehow and the new ones fixed those 2 issues.

It no longer crashes/freezes on me 50%+ of the time at start up( on the legal screen = ACCEPT ). It also no longer freezes 20-25% of the time mid route like it was doing. The only issue with it now is that PLF. "Something" changed at the update.

Again my thanks. I am sorry that I don't wish to try another version at this time. That may change but not right now. I may do what you say so I have an SD card as a back up in case something happens with this one. I am tied to this SD card. I can't copy it. Has to be this one.

Its a buggy version. Like windows sometimes you have to get a later version as there are no more fixes.
There is a lot more LATER ones that work real well. Im a Primo convert though. It has better warning systems and support, etc.

Give the Primo one a try on a new sd card just for the exercise :)

That is what everyone was saying all the time in this thread, Baz.

But topic starter won't :

gsthunder wrote:Again my thanks. I am sorry that I don't wish to try another version at this time. That may change but not right now.

He repeatedly said it. Well, his choice.

No use in further argumenting here if gsthunder is happy with the flaws, freezes and crashes of a buggy version, even when 1/3 of the issues still remain :

after I updated it 2/3 of the issues went away

He got his answer here, not on any of the other forums he asked. Maybe someday he will.

The release in question is outdated - july 2010 - and it's very rare. In fact, this thread is the first time ever I read/heard it existed.
No use in searching other solutions than the one given (upgrade).
If gsthunder don't want to follow that advice - which I can understand, believe me - then he don't want to. Period.
