@ hogan

I don't think you need to unzip, not sure, but when the manual not say unzip .... don't. You should know by now :)
In iGo there is a standard speedcam warning (sound), using a skin, you can have voice warnings.
Do you use a skin?

@hogan7777

Missed your edit. Igo 8.3 has no voice alert for speedcams but it does have sound[s] built-in. The only voice alert can be found in Amigo http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?2855-Amigo-complete-with-TTS-no-content-480_272 but the TTS voice there is Susan [US]. I'll show you how to change it to Kate [UK] if you want to try it. Plus, you'll need to change the data.gro for your resolution. I think that I have it for you to download.

EDIT: Just checked your resolution for Amigo and yes I have it.

Cars installation text is located at the site I referred you to - somewhere on the page. As for the skins, download the .rar file and inside it is another .rar file for the actual skin. This second .rar file is what you put into content\skin.

EDIT: Sorry, my bad. I was trying to do it by memory and it was wrong. I downloaded a skin and I see that there is not a second .rar folder. The first one goes into content\skin.

Do this:

We use data.zip from version 8.3.4 (no changes) and we use skin (inside the skin (inside the zip-archive) rename the folder ui_igo8 to ui_igo8_da).
Use in sys.txt:
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8_da"

Question: is the skin valuable for 800*480? If not, the skin can not be selected and is grayed out.

Ok Ok I give up :girl_flag_of_truce: have tried all the above combinations and i have failed to change position icon ended up that the unit kept locking up so i have lost my nerve.What I really would like (IN SIMPLE NOOB INSTRUCTIONS)is speed cam warnings I will try that next.
Thinks should I stick with tomtom I could have done all this in 10 mins.

Wait a minute. First of all, you can't give up now that we're so close! I won't have it.

Is the skin recognized by iGO? Did you download the correct version skin? What did you download exactly? We'll go from there. Listen to me. Have I steered you wrong yet?

1. Download version 1.1.42 from that site I gave you above.
2. Do this:
In the download (inside the zip-archive) rename the folder ui_igo8 to ui_igo8_da).
Make this entry in sys.txt:
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8_da"

Remember to save everything first before exiting.
3. Copy and place the unzipped file into content\skin.
4. Shutdown your device, wait a few seconds and restart.
5. In the iGO program, go to settings [menu], second page, menu, skin and choose your skin.
6. Do this first and then we'll tackle the cars.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I will stay out of this discussion, hoping not to confuse you no further. Follow Chass's lead and you will succeed.
One last advice: you were only thinking TomTom, nothing else but TT, that is the only reason you wanted to give up. IGO is not TT and TT is not iGO, each having their own particularities. Open your mind and see what a great program iGO is.

Thanks I can see that IGo is better to use than tomtom I am just getting mad with my self because I cant do simple things to it like speedcam warnings and icon change but I am sure with the help of this forum i will get there.

Believe it or not, that is good and easy to fix. The program I had you download is iGO 8.3.4 but for some reason [not a big deal] it is not recognizing ui_igo8_da.

In the download (inside the zip-archive) rename the folder ui_igo8 to ui_igo8_da).
Make this entry in sys.txt:
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8_da"
Remember to save everything first before exiting.

so all you have to do is delete the _da part in both places so all you have left is ui_igo8.

EDIT: Let me explain why it seems tough to you. It's simply because you haven't done it before. I know you feel like it's taken some time to do it but I can assure you that any of the mods here could do the whole thing in under a 1/2 hour. Remember, your device is not in front of any of us so it all has to be done by words and you know how difficult that can be sometimes. It's easier to do than to say!

There was nothing you had to except change the name as above. In content\skin was the whole skin .rar file you downloaded - should be nothing else. All you had to do is open that skin .rar file, change the name and shutdown and then restart. Also change the name in the sys.txt. Remember to save first.
