IGo Compatible Devices

Postby fmmagyar » Wed Apr 09, 2014 3:10 pm

I want to purchase a new 10.1 tablet that is compatible with the IGo Android GPS system. I had an ACER A210 which was IGo compatible and then had an ASUS 10.1 tablet which was not IGo compatible. Am asking forum members to provide model name of tablet they are using which has the IGo android GPS system.

What make a tablet compatible with IGo?
There is no pure iGO version for Android, only Primo.
If the tablet have a GPS reciever, The only thing to check (IMO) is whether is there Primo that works of the dvice's resolution.

In what way was it not compatible? I have yet to find a reasonably modern Android device that can't run iGo with a bit of tweaking.

hairydog: I have tried numerous IGo apks on my ASUS Tablet and keep getting resolution errors egs: (1920x 1090) (1920 x 1128). I checked with an ASUS Tech rep and he said ASUS is not compatible with IGo but they are working on it. I have been able to install Navgon, Sygic and TomTom on my ASUS but not IGo. Would welcome any tweaking advice you offer to get IGo to work on my ASUS.

The resolution for my asus tablet is 1920 x 1200. If there is an IGo apk that fits this resolution would greatly appreciate it.

My Android tablet is also 1920 x 1200 and it works fine with the iGo Primo at android-apps-f172/igo-primo-basarsoft-375713-mar-2014-t12449.html

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask the person who uploaded it?

The reason that iGo is only available for OEM sale is that it is ia bit tricky to set up for any given device. That's why ASUS techies (for example) can't do it: they'll be reading from a script.

But there is a wealth of information and experience on this site.

To at least partly answer your question, you need to put all the relevant pieces in place (according to the instructions) before it will work, so that means yes, you will have to download several files. And also maps and voices, dem, poi, buildings etc for your country.

It's not a one-click install.

hairydog: It worked, I now have IGo on my ASUS Tab. Thank you for getting me to try again as I had given up all hope for IGo on my tab. However, I did it in a round about way. During my prepping I spotted and downloaded and installed the Israel Free apk and it worked on my system but was in Hebrew which I could have changed to English but did not. I uninstalled it. I then tried what you had suggested and on an SD card tried every sys tex provided but got error resolutions on all. I then downloaded (it was in English) Primo 2.4 (9.6.29.383117) Android ("for Israel") [3.Apr.2014] by win333 and installed it to my internal hard drive. It worked. I then copied maps, poi's etc from my IGo GPS to the internal install and tweaked it to my liking. I then tried to copy all maps to an SD Card to save space but it did not work. SD card not recognized. I then moved my IGo folder to my PC and reformated my SD card to fat 32, copied the IGo folder to the SD card and tried it out. It worked. So now I have my IGo on an SD card with only the apk on the internal drive. I did not change the apk nor the systex of the original install. Perhaps what you offered would have worked if I had formatted my sd card to fat32 or if I had installed it directly in the internal hard drive. Thank you again for prodding me to try again. I am now a very Happy IGo camper.

Nice workaround.
Downloading "my" program without using the "Thanks" button is forgiven, but writing that it's "by win333", is not...

BTW, this package I've uploaded is including English, Russian, Serbian and Hebrew. You could delete the languages you don't need, and the program would start with your desired language.

For an easy time, you should try to alter as little as possible. I found that I had to just alter a few lines at the top of my sys.txt to get it to stop throwing resolution errors.

I ended up with:

Code: Select all
[android]
fullscreen=1
tablet=1
has_physical_home_button=0

[interface]
vga=1  ; for full HD
skin="ui_android"
[rawdisplay]
force_renderer="RENDER_MOYA"
highres=1 ; for full HD
screen_xy="auto"

I'm so sorry for the attribution error. And I thank you for your last post. I will give it a try when I have time to see the difference.
